I doubt a Silvagni leaves Carlton unless he is forced to do so.

However, he was a pretty good 2nd ruck for the Blues in 2022/23. They finished 9th and 5th those years.
Missed all 2024 with injury and upon return was moved to defense by Voss
He can kick a goal when forward and can find the ball averaging 14 disposals and 4.5 marks a game both seasons

He is 194cm and has a decent jump for a shorter sized 2nd ruck.
Day and ZZ are 196cm
Smith much taller but not sure he is a forward at AFL level. Smith (if he stays) has only 4 AFL game to Silvagni 128

Just saying Silvagni is not the worst 2nd ruck option that's possibly available out in AFL land, that won't cost a draft pick.
Silvagni's a good hard at it versatile player and I'd love him at our club. But you'd have to think that's only a remote possibility.

One of the few players at Carlton who gives his all every week. Plays roles at either end and will do what ever the team needs. Could do way way way worse than him, even though I dont think he would leave Carlton

Turns out we've brought Gubby Allen back to help out while Swann transitions.

Joe won't play again.

I see Mike Sheahan just said on OTC he would drop Hipwood.

In fact if you listened to his total content he gave him a real serve.

Mike's always been one journo who's been reasonably measured in his comments so surprised to hear that and wondering where it came from.
Had more score involvements than any of our forwards on the weekend. Watching the 8 minutes of highlights should've been enough got Mike to change his mind

I was gob smacked to watch that. And it was totally out of the blue. Hippy, unjustly cops a heap - especially from some on here. His conversion is no worse than anyone else's - and usually at long range. He does whatever the team needs from him.

What he is is a competitor. He brings the ball to ground. He chases, tackles and harrasses. he knocks the ball out to advantage. will never be the power forward that some expect him to magically be.

But I bet his name is one of the first on the board every week.

He had been our best set shot up to about a month ago then Logan I assume went past him with 2 bags of 5.

Hes better than our smalls

Just lazy fans (not saying i have any confidence when he's having a set shot)

Well over the years Mike has always been kinder on players than any of the other journos.

He gave reasons why he would drop him and said words to the affect that it won't happen because Fagan is wedded to him.

I'm more about where has the spray he gave Hipwood coming from.

Just seemed highly unusual to me out of a match that we won.

Averaging 10 disposals (5 effective) and 1.3 goals a game as the main forward in the best team. His player rating at 5.8 would be very close to the worst in the league for someone playing every game, even on friday he was the lowest on the field even below Marshall. He seems to comfortable and it's not hard to see why. A long contract and never any pressure to be dropped.

He had his set shots mostly sorted the last couple of years and overall is reliable. But always susceptible to a shank.

He's doing more grunt work now and you sometimes see him at the bottom of packs which was never really a feature. So he could be tired and focused more on his role when he's lining up.

Mate you have been slamming Hippy just as consistently as 3KZ has been loving Lester for many seasons. Not sure why but, like 3kz's love for Froggy, it just gets creepy and gives you no credibility when posting anything.

Think there may be some groin sorenes still which re-surfaced while playing him in the ruck when they needed him to become a hybrid...again. He has really been a gap filler when we needed him to be. Lucky to have him in the 22 and is one of the first picked each week undoubtedly

I'm not sure we see his role as the main key forward even though we don't have anyone else bar Morris who's still learning.

Once Joe was gone we've had to restructure our forward forays to get more players involved and his role has changed.

Yep he was in good form till we had the bright idea to ruck him, and we had him down back for a game , so he's probably had a few issues to deal with.

Bugger it. I'm on the Draper band wagon - who is with me!
I don't really see enough of him to have much idea but my son who annoyingly has been a good judge of players rates Draper and thinks he's got a bit of mongrel in him . Which surprised me considering some of the good judges on here seem to hate him.

Could be a bit of fun if he lands a long contract.

Nope, on Max Heath sorry. Watched 10 minutes vs Geelong and I'm a No.1 Fan if he ever comes to Lions !

Draper is a decent enough ruck and useful around the field - with rucks becoming more interchangeable you could make a case for him being anywhere in the 4-8 range.

The big issue is his injuries and how many games he misses and that's going to remain a question until he stays on the field.

I think we've split the Joe role in two - we play Morris as our main target forward now and Hippy roams a lot more widely around the 50m line before looking for a target inside 50.

Unlike Joe, he's not going to have the occasional ping from there and we already know he's not going to take many pack marks in the goal square but those score involvements are key to his role currently.

If we get Allen in I'd say we'll find next year Hipwood will be a far better player for the experience he's had in this modified role. It's toughened him up learning new strategies and he could still become the damaging key we always hoped he would be
