anyone have Age access... who is the Lion the dons are hunting?
Full entry

The Bombers re-signed young ruckmen Nick Bryan and Vigo Visentini last week as they await a decision from Sam Draper, who has options at Adelaide and Brisbane. Draper, a South Adelaide native, is an unrestricted free agent and can walk to the club of his choice, with his two suitors both flag contenders. Dylan Shiel played his farewell match for Essendon on Thursday night, while Jayden Laverde is surveying his options after falling down the defensive pecking order. Elijah Tsatas is an annual watch as a top-five pick who is yet to realise his potential. They are keen on adding Lions premiership star Brandon Starcevich to their back line, while Malcolm Rosas and Marcus Windhager are other potential additions.”

Laverde anyone?

The major concern with Starcevich is the concussion issues. He is a fantastic player and a guy we really want to keep. I understand completely if he does take a massive offer.

Laverde anyone?
Can not recall how he has played this season, IIRC played ok against us early in the season, good solid reliable footballer but probably wrong age demographic for us.. turning 30 next year.

As per normal if the club decided they want him I'd back their judgement in over mine.

Let's match any contract that comes Starce's way. Force a trade if we have to.
I don't think there is any good outcomes if we did that.
They could do the same thing with Allen if they wanted. They could bid on Annable at #2 if they wanted.
It is a very small industry and you have to do deals with other teams all the time.

If it’s West Coast and Essendon interested they will want to trade anyway. Neither team want to dilute their FA compo when signing Starce.
If Starce ultimately says he wants to go, then the club will grant his wish and work to get a win-win for all parties.

I wish your posts were performative, you'd be quite good.

Conversely, why don't you try and defend Swann here? If he was truly on our side and if he truly understood the importance of the lions academy, why is he rolling over and letting this happen?

How do you know he is rolling over and letting this happen? My sense is the AFL Commission are pushing this. The executive are tools to implement.

What is he meant to do, go on a hunger strike until they relent?

Caroline Wilson again said on Agenda Setters that she expects all Father / Sons and Academy players will be ineligible to be drafted by clubs in the first round of the draft.

She gave the example that Jarrod Roughead (who is at St Kilda) at some function today had a sook that its wrong that Cooper Hodge can be taken by Brisbane b/c of the Academy in front of Hawks. Luke Hodge was on the panel and laughed.

Pretty pathetic by Swann and Tom Harley that they have conceded so quickly on this issue given where they've come from.

It will come in from 2026 onwards yeah? Swanny is pulling up the ladder after us

I’ll try, in my opinion I don’t think he’s the modern day equivalent of Judas

There's meant to be some sort of level ground here; i.e., no discounts at all on the first selection. This proposal (if it goes through) is too extreme and it will hurt a lot of clubs and it will basically devalue the northern academies. He should be pushing for something that satisfies all parties. This proposal will not do that, in fact, it will fracture almost half the league.

Yeah I don't think they give a shit. Its a terrible decision, but if you've been paying attention, the AFL has been making a string of bad decision over the past few years.
