I don't mind 2 years to be honest, I think he's better than a lot of our other players and has suffered through an ill-fitting Simmo game plan and injuries. Think he has huge potential in this side

I struggle to see how a ruckman who will be 30 at the start of the season with no AAs, no premiership, no BnF would be worth a 1st rounder.

Geelong are pretty astute at the trade table and will not be offering a 1st for Roma.

If it’s straight up for our first at roughly pick 22-25 we absolutely do it in a heartbeat. It’s exactly what his current value is. Late first round pick.

Saints would be the ones holding it up but if they really want Flanders they’d be dumb not to take it and use it to bring guys in they want.

Just an email from a mate talking about trades and stuff.
Not sure where he heard it, haven't seen anything else so thought I'd throw it out and see if anyone else heard the same.

I think the club will be looking towards pushing a few picks into next year.

If we just take 1, 2 and 14 + 3 NGA/FS this year, thats not a bad haul. Might be a little bit of improvement on the 14 I feel through some minor wheeling and dealing.

My feeling is that next years crop has better top end talent and runs deeper. I wouldn't be surprised to see something along the lines of R2 or F2 + Ryan for Saints F1. That would be a fun death ride. Also suits RTBs selling of the future to appease them now.

Also, another thing that will need to play out is the whole NGA/FS/academy rule change. If noone can take in the first round then essentially any NGA/FS/academy pick will be matched using a 2nd rounder.... Clubs won't need to stockpile and essentially no need for future pick planning. Clubs will hold onto their high draft picks tightly.

Would be no point in offering him 1 because he has multi year offers from back in Vic. Why would he stay for a lesser deal when he is only just scraping by for a contract anyway?

I agree with Sanchez, would prefer one year only. Or one year plus triggers for a second. But i would also rather give him two years than allow him to go and write off all the investment we have made in him for probably not much in return at the trade table right at the point where he is showing some signs of becoming a decent player. That would hurt.
