No mention of a new rail station which i think is a must to make the games successful and good for Brisbane's expanding CBD.
I've heard a whisper that the government might junk the extra station to keep costs down. They think Exhibition and the busway stations will be sufficient to empty out 60 000 people. I guess Melbourne makes emptying out 100 000 people work with two railway stations, so maybe it is enough.

I would have this as a priority over the Caloundra to Maroochydore "Wave" that won't get built in time anyhow and cost a heap more.
The problem is, the LNP made an election promise for a line to Maroochydore by 2032. This was despite a lot of people saying it's unrealistic to build such a long railway line in that time. They've already had to water it down by replacing the final section with buses. Not getting it done might hurt their chances of retaining their Sunshine Coast seats.

Ordinarily this wouldn't be an issue, since most Sunshine Coast seats are usually pretty safe for the LNP. But they went backwards significantly there at this year's federal election. The federal electorates covering the Caloundra-Maroochydore stretch are down to 3% and 6% margins. If that flows down to state level, add the discontent from an undelivered promise and it could make some seats very close contests.

No doubt it would keep costs down.
However, budget wise over 5/6 years it is not a big deal
You are probably aware the LNP have not said anything about building a new station.
The LNP just had to acknowledge Queensland Rail had located a suitable place if this was to be approved in the future.

Victoria Park won't become a possible white elephant like say building a stadium at Albion or Hamilton Northshore.
But the stadium needs a close station to secure its future viability and warrant the initial costs.

The costs of CRR are around $17 billion. Thats for 5 new stations 3 being underground.
For future reference to the CRR costs, governments can say it is now 6 new stations with three being underground.

Also, the expanding Brisbane CBD will warrant the build of a new station just 2 stops from Albert Street station in the CBD.
Brisbane Boys and Girls private schools within a short walk of a new station.

Regarding crowds it is not really 60k they have to deal with for athletics.
People pay for a day or night session so on big days it is likely 63K x2 = 126k moving in and out.
Now swimming (nearby) may not clash with Athletics but there may be a day or so they will.

It is also possible that Exhibition Station may be part of the Athletics Village precinct so only for athletes.

Yes, the state LNP did make an election promise, but it won't be fulfilled in time for the Olympics.
However, they will keep their promise to build, it just won't be completed on time.
They best put their effort ensuring the rail to Caloundra gets finished in time.

I was only saying they might be able to adjust the forward budget to include a Stadium Station. Easy to do.
Reason being they won't be spending as much money on "Wave" within those 7 years as it will be expanded beyond 2032.

They will not come out and say "Wave" in its present form won't be ready. Well not for 3 or 4 years anyhow.

AI will be an important part of the 2032 games security.
With 6 years or so to go you would think this area will advance a lot further

IOC now allowing host cities to sell corporate sponsor names on stadiums/arenas
Excellent. This will help bring Victoria Park Stadium in on budget.

How do you know we already aren’t?

Take this red pill and I’ll show you just how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

The post you quoted HK is definitely not what I posted, so we are likely already in the Matrix or there is a mischievous mod playing tricks with my mind.

People may still be annoyed about no line by 2032 though. That's why I'm saying they won't prioritise other projects over that like an extra Olympics station. Even getting rail to Caloundra will be a challenge as you say.

We'll see, it's only a rumour as I said.

I wonder why they did not do an after construction shot just for some balance.
There is no doubt Victoria Park will look pretty bare for a large % of the park during construction.
I do think they will keep as many mature trees as possible
The end result with parkland and green space will be great though.

Imagine expecting any government would go back to the Gabba option now we have two reports describing how awful it is.
Oh wait, hold on, some dude who worked at the Gabba for 9 years 20 years ago says those reports are wrong?

Should show an even older photo when that area was a rubbish tip

Not only that, but the current Gabba would be his baby so saying it's shit is a direct reflection on his efforts during the redevelopment.

Hmm can't possibly think why he might feel that the Gabba is still fit for purpose.

Perry Park news too - Brisbane Times
Meanwhile, Brisbane soccer fans’ dreams of a quality boutique stadium at Perry Park have moved a step closer, with Bleijie sending letters to the project’s supporters confirming the ball was rolling.
...
“The Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, working with Football Queensland, will now lead a targeted review of possible upgrade opportunities to support future planning for the facility and funding consideration by the Queensland government.”

Genuinely concerned Brisbane/ Australia won't be able to build facilities in time. No faith in the construction industry at all.

A recent Gold Coast holiday gave me the opportunity for another look at the lite rail project. Suffice to say it was an embarrassment. It's no one person or groups fault, but the whole thing is a mess.

Every couple hundred meters there is another crew working on a section. Might have passed 20 or more sections. Each crew has its own machinery, operators, traffic controlers (multiple) and I would imagine project managers, foreman, tradesmen, labourers etc. Probably an average of 10 workers each section, very few if any are spotted physically working on building anything. Mostly organising, re organising, planning, discussing, directing, cleaning up, packing up, on the phone, standing around.

It's not surprising budgets double and triple, as do the timelines.

Welcome to Australia! I laugh at how inept we’ve become.

Funny you mention the light rail as stage 4 just got canned yesterday due to exceeded budget and/or community opposition. The bloody things taken ages to roll out and has cost several billion already

And will have to be completed post-2032 anyway because buses will reach capacity by 2032+, meaning they'll have to either do light rail or heavy rail to the airport. Which was the entire point of the project.

It’s a diabolical state of affairs. The heavy rail has been considered on and off for a decade or so. Apparently back under consideration again.

Makes no sense to have a light rail that goes Burleigh to Helensvale but doesn’t link up with the heavy rail until the very end of the journey.

Went for a walk through Victoria Park today.
It looks like the SVP group have raised enough funds to buy some stickers.
This was on the Centenary Pool side of the park.

How dare they desecrate that pristine green space utilized by millions, nay, billions of Queenslanders across the Earth with such vandalism and littering!
