Good on him, it's about time someone called them out on their incompetence.
Straight after the race is not the best time though as a rule. Adrenaline is still pumping and emotions tend to overrule.

Pretty amazing that with all the electronics and telemetry on the modern F1 car - allowing the pit wall to monitor the smallest of performance factors - that it took Lando to say "Guys, I can see smoke in the cockpit" to alert them something was amiss.
Sure, engines can fail in an instant with no warning at all. But this failure seemed to unravel over a period of time (starting with an oil leak) that to my untrained eye should have been evident to the pit wall before smoke appeared in the cockpit - and which ultimately led to a catastrophic engine failure.

Carlos is a flog, tries to pass around the outside on the first corner after the safety car on cold tyres and is shocked that the other car has understeer. Biggest victim on the grid.

McLaren identify cause of Norris' retirement and it seems that the blame lies NOT with the Mercedes powerplant but a chassis issue.

Team principal Andrea Stella was pretty coy about revealing what the actual problem was saying yesterday that:

“We've identified an issue on the chassis side, and we will do a full review before we go racing again in Monza.”

“We have some initial indications based on the data. But, in fairness, we don't have full proof of what has happened to Lando's car. So I would refrain from making any speculation about”

Overheating caused by a flaw in the interaction between the McLaren bodywork and the powerunit? Who knows?

Reckon both drivers will be nervous as they prepare for the high speed Monza circuit (both expected to get new PUs btw)

How many grid spot drops for a new PU these days?
10 or so ?

Still winnable for them though. Outside of turn 1, its mostly high speed corners which they like.

On this year's form have to think Max will be right up there with McLaren's. Can't see Ferrari doing another back to back, at 10/1 Max win would be close.

I read Lando 10 grind penalty for new unit

Oscar not driving in P1. His car will be driven by McLaren development driver Alex Dunne who made his F1 debut at the Austrian GP, driving Landos car.
Alex...don't adjust the seat, don't change the radio settings, don't change the mirrors, don't leave any rubbish, and whatever you do...DON'T PRANG IT !!!

**** sky Formula One coverage is ridiculously bad. If it’s not the pre-race coverage with people who have never driven a Formula One car in their life telling us about driving a Formula One car, then we get the actual commentary during the second practice session with someone who’s never driven a Formula One car telling us about a Formula One car. Then we get Martin Brundle standing on a corner for 10 minutes talking about rubbish while guys are laying down fast laps in a tiny picture up the left-hand side of the screen. Then later on when Oscar is putting down a fast lap with about 20 minutes to go, we don’t get to see any of that cause they’re talking to the principal of Stake and there’s a picture of him standing in the pit lane for five minutes on the main screen, with a tiny little picture in the top left corner with no timing to tell us whether Oscar is slower or faster.
I’m so glad that when the race is actually on I can log onto the F1 live app and watch proper coverage. Unfortunately, when you tape it on Foxtel, you get the sky coverage and it sucks. I suppose I should be gratefu I didn’t have to listen to Jacque Villaneuve hate on Australians during the coverage this time. 😂 👎

And to add to that - Crofty and Karun blaming Oscar’s overtake last year as the reason for McLaren not getting a 1-2, instead of it being that they pushed each other too hard trying to do the fastest lap and had to 2 stop when Charles only had to one stop coz he looked after his tyres. They are muppets.

I can see them turning on Kimi from 2026 when/if George is in the running for a WDC. Can't change their spots.

I enjoy the deflation in their voices whenever Oscar wins

New tactic by McLaren to help Lando: Don't let Oscar in the car.

It all came undone when Oscar managed to sneak into the car in practice two.
