Precisely what has Jhye done:
(a) to be selected
(b) for people to advocate he start on the ground.
... that isn't exactly the same as what he has done before?

These days, one of my only knocks on CS is baffling selections (almost always involving rucks and/or Blicavs) in key finals.

I fear he's doing it again.

I think who ever was selected was 100% going to be sub so not surprised Bews wasn't picked

Im surprised they didnt go bews in the 22 and bowes sub but I suppose bowes and oconnor can take Brisbane's medium forwards like rayner etc.

It won't be the reason for a loss.

Please don't give Clark a "hold my beer" moment.
Any of the other choices for the inclusion are as average as Clark-
Knevitt
Stevens
Bews
OH- my choice, but still average at present

Clearly I'm in a vanishingly tiny minority here, but I don't mind the Clark selection.

He might not have too many stand-out weapons, but no-one can deny that one thing he really does bring is manic attack on the ball and the contest. That's gold in a red-hot final. Wouldn't surprise me if this turned out to be his best game in the hoops.

Sure we could've gone with Bews (who has played well on Cameron in the past, but a few years ago now and he's not the player he used to be), or Knevitt (whose lack of intensity could find him out in a big final), or Stevens, or Clohesy... but none of them have demanded selection with their form.

As for Stanley, the thing about Brisbane is that they are remarkably short. Outside of their defence, who are their talls? Fort, Morris, Day and Gallop - hardly a lineup that will cause our KPDs to lose any sleep. I think its reasonable to for the MC to conclude that we simply don't need SDK in defence, and we'd potentially be too tall with him down there which is asking to get torn to shreds by their smalls like Cameron, Bailey, Rayner, Lohmann and Ah Chee.

Plus if we're ever going to play SDK in the ruck in a big game, it'd be Fort you'd want to see him up against.

So I think SDK plays ruck, which he did a few times earlier in the year and has trained a lot since the end of last season, with relief from Neale and Blicavs. Blicavs to otherwise take Andrews and run off him when the opportunity arises. Mullin in the guts on Neale or McCluggage. MOC down back on Bailey or Rayner. And we otherwise back ourselves in.

I'm thinking I'd like to set the tone, and not risk having to play catch up footy.
You don't trust our starting 3 to set the tone? We're 3rd in the competition for scores from stoppages + centrebounces. They started slowly against Brisbane last time, started strongly against Brisbane in the match at the Gabba. I think you back them in.

Have faith
A result similar to 2022 final

Cats easing up to win by 38

What's strange to me is that they played bews against tigers when Clark could have played it to see if hes ready for a final. Now he comes in off no afl exposure. Seems crazy
