It would be easy for Davidson to get frustrated but just needs to start afresh in the second half.
There is a game to be won

We don’t have the skill to transition to an open game , women like Conway , hickie just don’t have the basic skills

We held up fairly well against the wind so that very soft free kick and goal is a killer.

Need to sort out the connection between the midfield and forwards.

Glad for the win but honestly, some aspects of the game plan appear broken. We won by desperate effort rather than good football.

There are three things that need to be urgently addressed:

1. Poor ground ball work. At this level, given we are not a talk team, we simply have to be cleaner when the ball is on the ground. I would rate our ground ball get second rate compared to the teams we have played so far.

2. Very poor kicking into our forward fifty. This has been chronically bad this season. We have played to the defensive strengths of each of our opposition save for Freo. Our only effective tall forwards are Dakota and Smith. One on one they can win contests above their heads but teams have more tall defenders, more than the past, and will just double-team our talls. There has to be a better strategy than just long kicks to a pack. What has saved us has been forward 50 pressure but it is always one quick release handball or kick away from going to the other end in a hurry.

3. Very average spread from the contest. The opposition are often getting two or three handballs to space before we catch up out of the contest and by then they have uncontested marks. We usually seem to rely on the likes of Dawes for our spread. It has been really poor this season and used to be a strength.

Having said all of that, the development of Mullins is continuing, Dawes as always makes things happen, Hodder getting closer to the contest seems essential now, because she produces effective tackles. Ellinger is three quarters of the way to being a genuine top line rebound defender, just a bit of game sense and timing and placing of her kicks to develop.

Thankfully we have Koenen and Campbell to provide some experience and calmness.

The new disposal interpretation has produced a fair bit of inconsistency so far. It must be frustrating for the players.
