Dev didn’t cost us the win but he once again showed why he isn’t afl quality
I’d like to see him getting more than a last quarter entry to a game, when most of his team mates were busy pooing their pants.

Remember, they used to use that AFL quality line when referring to Lester and we all know that that was a massive miscalculation.

Dev might not play his best football with us, but he will get another chance and will prove the doubters wrong. Don’t forget Jack “The Steak Knives” Crisp.

Here’s a thought. Jack Payne forward and Darragh Joyce into defence. Might be worth a shot.

Dev was no good but gallop did nothing. He gets a pass because it’s his debut and a tough night for a key forward but think he’s a way off being a contributor.

Did nothing on debut huh?.....

So you're saying he's going to be as good as Brownie?..... Yes, I'm going to assume that's exactly what you're saying!!

That's very high praise Tom. Very high praise indeed.

Hipwood needs a training block. In my 30 odd years of supporting this club he’s arguably the worst player I’ve seen to somehow still get games. And that’s including spuds like Lisle and Close.

Very edgy.

I read his comment and one thing came to mind:

Billy Madison Shut Up GIF

Hipwood is better than Sam Sheldon.

Will be interesting if we look back on this game and say that it steeled us for the rest of the year, or was the one that got away and cost us top 4

If we had beaten hawks and crows away over 3 weeks that would have had the footy commentatiat going gaga. I can see the value in avoiding that

Just hope we are right up for the giants. They were pretty poor on saturday but have been good in some backs to the wall games notably geelong

No Greene would help

I don't know why but it reminds me of the loss before the "if it bleeds" game. Can't put my finger on why, but watching it brought me back to that memory.

We are playing so poorly but our game plan and natural talent is keeping us competitive. Zac Bailey with an absolute howler of a game. Very disappointing result. We really need big O back because we are getting smashed by opposition rucks. Big Fort battles on but he is not it unfortunately. Please just clunk a few marks in the forward 50 too. FFS.

I think there's a few weeks scattered through seasons a decade ago where Hipwood would arguably be better than every player we named that week.

As much as we have debated Zorko and Kiddy being in the same side, we have a version of it now with Zorko and Fletcher.

Fletcher is a gun and will be an awesome player for many years. But he has attacking instincts. We are imbalanced with him down there instead of Starce.

Maybe i am building him up to be the panacea but he is so good at reading the play and not letting those out the back balls happen. Those goals destroyed us in the melbourne game and a couple were crucial against the crows

Noah seemed to beat Rankine (i did miss some of the match) and has gone to another level this year - might even allow Starce to take the second best small.

I would play Fletch & Coleman down back and release Zorks. Zorks can be damaging anywhere, would be a fantastic wildcard / hard matchup if he floats around the ground.

Zorko has been fantastic running forward this year, but there are worrying signs with his defensive game. He needs to tighten up.

Are we playing that poorly? I thought our game against Adelaide was good. Sure we lost which was not good but they are in form and (for me) we were obviously the better team on the night but didn't get the win which happens more often that people realise. Both Big O & Day will make a difference and (fingers crossed) come back fresh and ready to attack at the important end of the season.
Worth mentioning that clunking marks on Friday night was probably the most difficult challenge this year for any team....not sure why we have higher expectations of our guys when you have terrible conditions such as that was. I walked to the ground and if I looked in the same direction as the rain was coming, it wasn't pretty painful. Can't imagine trying to mark the ball in that. We were rarley outmarked which we should be giving credit to our talls for and maybe look at our smalls not capitalising enough when the ball hit the ground.
