Dream outcome imo

1. CDT
2. Trade to Ess for their F1 and F2
18. (Haw pick) Trade to Bris for Starcevich
Count Rugen The Princess Bride GIF by filmeditor

Zero chance that happens unless we're sending something else back.

Going to be up to Essendon to decide how much they want Duursma, but I wouldn’t be sending anything back of high value for a F1 in that deal. Maybe a F3, it’s pick 1 and if that pick ends up in the double digits as well as delaying a resource by a year then no thanks.

I hope we have learnt

If/when the ferret requests a trade to hawks I expect we’ll be involved in the SUPER MEGA Trade with one of our top 2 picks.
Why would we want to be helping out the Horks after they ****ed around with us last year over the Barrass trade (by trading out their R1 pick), then tried to poach Harley from under us this year?

They're almost Geelong like atm.

agree, will be the right time to draft another ruck prospect and Van Rooyen or Walsh will be 3-4 years younger than A Reid and are both very exciting prospects.
Barnett and Livingstone will be gone or Livingstone will be WAFL ruck.
CDT wouldn't blow wind up either of those 2 prospects.
I think we are stuck with Flynn and BW with backup from A Reid for the foreseeable future unless someone comes out of the unknown.
JW as a backup is plenty of ruck support for the medium term.
When A Reid starts developing a more mature body, BW will find himself gone and we will draft a ruck prospect like Van Rooyen or Walsh.
Wouldn't mind getting ladhams as a stop gap . Not too old and seems to do a reasonable job when Grundy isn't available

There will be a couple picks before the Hawks selection so that goes to 10. Port (hopefully ours via GCS) and Saints.
Not sure suns will part ways with there port pick now Curnow in play. We could do pick 1 and 19 for ports pick, Davies and Flanders. I'd do that. Blues would take CDT, I know it!! We keep 2 and take sharp and next best at the port pick and Hawks 1st. 🤪

Let's say Essendon have 5,6 and Merrett leaves. They will get at least Pick 9 + Hawks F1 & F2.

Essendon can have pick 1&2 for 5,6,9 & their F1 if they really want. Happy to throw in our F2 as well if needed and then use Hawks round 1, our second round and hawks second round to get what becomes pick 7.

5,6,7,9 and 2 first rounders next year plus Charlie Banfield, Koby Evans and Tylah Williams. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Bailey is 100% that player, you're right, but he's not "developing" anymore like the others, he's maxed out. He also shouldn't be on our list anymore tbh.

Jack Williams I think is slightly different from them as he's a natural forward at least and a solid backup ruck. That's his role, he's just not blessed with the athletic profile of the others.
Jack williams was in his draft year exactly what Cody Curtin is this year .

Just un unathletic lump of an 18 year old dominating smaller opponents.

It's obvious that both Simpson and mini didn't rate jwills athletic profile choosing Archer and bailey over him when jwill is superior to them in forward craft , man on man ruck work , goal kicking and football IQ .

Unfortunately I think jwill will be nothing more than a back up and we should be drafting a genuine athletic forward who can also ruck to replace bailey then have Archer full time ruck

It looks very good but WC will miss several top end mids in that hitting zone.
Open draft pool roughly is
1/Duursma
2/Sharp
3/CDT
4/Cumming
5/Lindsay
6/NHH
7/Schubert
8/Greeves
9/Grilj
10/Marsh
If we give up pick 1 to ESS for Duursma we need to be getting their 1st pick 5 back as a minimum and plenty on top because Rich have 3 & 4.
If we want another top 10 pick ESS will need to throw in both their 2nd round picks 22 and 23 so we can trade up to get GC pick 7 and put a future pick in the trade.

With the player exodus at Essendon & rumoured player dislike of Scott, Essendon are a huge chance to battle it out for the spoon next year.

Scott will also be desperate to improve in 2026 as his job could genuinely be on the line if they don't. I can see their future picks being sold at a discount for a sugar hit in 2026.

I would not be against trading pick 1 for 5+F1, could very well end up being a top 3 pick in a stronger draft (certainly can't be weaker than this years, you would think). Essendon won't leapfrog any of this years finalists, nor Bulldogs, Swans or Port. That puts them 12th at best (pick 7).

The season ended for the Power but the likely pick 1 Williem Duursma wasn't going to go down without a fight. He showed how much his midfield game has matured over the course of the season here, able to influence around stoppage and in contested situations. Some of his marking around the ground was truly elite. The one achilles heel for Willem throughout the year has been his kicking, and it reared its head again here with him struggling to hit up targets inside 50, coughing up turnovers on a number of occasions.

Thanks once again noobermensch. Really good summary of how he plays in that clip. Brilliant all round game but bites off too much with what’s quite limited kicking ability for a #1 pick choice.

Really needs to find a way to kick within himself and hit up 30m targets or it undoes all his good initial work particularly his marking and running.

I hope we are better this year but I almost expect us to be involved - to our complete detriment.

Pick 1 (the best talent) for 5 (the 8th best player after FS etc) + a pick between 1 and 10 (likely 4-10) next year at best.

Gee that kicking is about as bad as I have seen from him, he normally is a bit better than that.

It's quite the contrast for a kid who is one touch and silky skilled by hand, he really has bog average disposal by foot and thats a difficult thing to improve.

It highlights just how poor this draft is, as he is the number 1 ranked kid in this cohort (and rightfully so ) however in most other years draft cohorts he would sit IMO in the 5-8 range.

The anomaly in this years draft cohort is that there is very little at the pointy end that you would call elite, then there are about 10 players who are genuine first rounders in most other years, after which the quality falls away pretty quickly.

Additionally it's a very poor year to be looking to replenish your ruck and KPD stocks.

Dangerfield's a shocking kick but that hasn't stopped him from being one of the best players in the game for a long time.

Whilst Duursma would certainly want to improve his kicking, as long as he can break lines and kick with penetration/within himself it's not so bad.

Keep banging on about it, but the combo of
Duursma - elite athlete, can play outside and in. Could be anything, can play anywhere an make stuff happen
Sharp - ok athlete, strong inside player. Guaranteed 250 gamer. can play forward and be a threat

Is too good to pass up. The strengths and weaknesses compliment each other, and mitigate so much of the risk,. Just take them both.

Can we stop with the whole "because of father/sons and NGA's pick 5 is actually pick 10 and pick 8 is actually pick 43 in 2029 routine?" We go round and round in circles with it every year and if it keeps going on for much longer I won't have any brain cells left.

I think Essendon would have to have rocks in their heads to trade away their F1. It's the last year that they can bottom out in a non-Tassie draft so if they offer their F1 to us with should absolutely take it.
