This guy literally said on national TV not 48 hours ago that he wasn't thinking about any role relating to football until at least after christmas. Today it has been reported that he's met with several clubs whilst in Melbourne. The guy is a liar, plain and simple. What a scourge his employment has been.

That was never going to happen because this isn't money that he would have earned in 2026 - but rather it's money deferred from Covid (2020 and possibly 2021).
There are reasons to be pissed off about the payout - this scenario you're postulating however isn't one of them.
Canāt understand how people canāt understand when you owe people money you need to eventually pay them.

And my mail was that Cleary (the journo who broke the story) first got the info from a rival club rather than from someone at Port.
In that is indeed the case, I suspect what has happened is that Hinkley (or his manager) were speaking to a club or two in Victoria and would have discussed his deferred payments with respect to any potential 2026 salary at a new club.
