Thank goodness Hinkley left before he saw this

Three captains?

Oh Yes GIF

I'm sure an under-pressure Brad Scott, already wound up as tight as a snare drum at the best of times, is going to love Ken flying in a few days a week and smirkingly taking the piss around the hallways of Tullamarine while getting paid a motza.

Please let it happen, could be Chernobyl-esque.
Can give him advice on how to take the final steps in breaking the world record for games coached without making a GF now that Scott's within sniffing distance.

3 captains when you have 15 players in your squad tops is insane.

Just make everyone a captain
"We’re an anarcho-syndicalist team. We take it in turns to act as captain for the week".

My son's U6 soccer team did that, i'll make sure to tell the lads that we're going with the anarcho-syndicalist model again when they rock up for U7 preseason

We'd better have a 'new job no payout clause'.

Hahahahahahhahahah of course we haven't.

That was never going to happen because this isn't money that he would have earned in 2026 - but rather it's money deferred from Covid (2020 and possibly 2021).

There are reasons to be pissed off about the payout - this scenario you're postulating however isn't one of them.

Can’t understand how people can’t understand when you owe people money you need to eventually pay them.
As usual the club has let this drag on way too long and all it’s achieved is pissing supporters off more.

They probably thought it would remain quiet and not get out into the public domain.

And my mail was that Cleary (the journo who broke the story) first got the info from a rival club rather than from someone at Port.

In that is indeed the case, I suspect what has happened is that Hinkley (or his manager) were speaking to a club or two in Victoria and would have discussed his deferred payments with respect to any potential 2026 salary at a new club.

He wasn't sacked. His contract is being honoured.

I know all that, but you can still have clauses that prevent double dipping.

There’s no double dipping, if you left your job and the company owed you money you going to say that’s ok keep it?
He’s no different to you or me in that situation, he’s owed money for work done so he gets paid.
It’s not rocket science.

Our own chairman just posted this like it’s some kind of ā€œI told you soā€ flex, when everyone knows it really just shows what a dismal failure we’ve been when it really counts.

These people just do not get it.
Anyone want to tell Kochie on whatever SM platform he's sprouting this nonsense on that one of those "top" 7 teams is not like the others, who have all made a GF since 2020?

Why would Essendon offer Donuts a FIFO part-time role living interstate? Their huge advantage is being based where most of the prospective employees are. No need to consider that.

Unless they've fallen into whatever trap led to Port keeping him for 13 years...

Hinkley to Essendon is the ultimate Black Ops - he would be able to ensure Brad Scott is fired one week before he threatened Hinkley's own least-sucessful coach record. Seriously though, doesn't anyone down there pay attention?
A byproduct of the Melbourne media mafia polishing Ken's turds for a decade is some football people over there think he has certain value, perhaps he does if it's limited & not imparting his loser-isms to a playing group.

My issue with the $400k we're paying Hinkley is that we didn't just pay it to him last year before he ****ed off rather than hamstringing Josh Carr's soft cap with it.
