Good problem to have but how do we fit all of McVee, Walker and Simpson into the backline? This was our backline mix in the finals game:

Ryan Chapman Pearce
Cox Worner Banfield

Some of my psychotic rambling:
  • McVee is starting b22
  • If we play Walker it would let Clark off the chain which could be very damaging
  • Can Chapman be moved to a wing?
  • Is Worner b22?
  • Simpson is a gun in the making but can we fit him in?
  • Could Clark do some stints in the midfield?
This is how I see it

Back 6
Ryan Pearce Clark
McVee Cox Worner
Simpson starting on the bench.
Chapman moved to the Wing.

BnF finishes for McVee.

2024 - 7th
2023 - 9th

He had an injury interrupted preseason this year, but two top 10 finishes when Melbourne were a good side is very impressive. He is a great pick up for us.

Also, he is out of contract so we only need offer something half reasonable. Pick 29 and that is it.

No way worner should still be in our team let alone the starting 18 with everyone fit.

He’s handy depth AT best

Nah m8 ANB far superior.
Your evaluation of your currrnt players has no relevance in these discussions

Our 2nd is it . End of
to be fair, I've been spot on with trade value since Luke Jackson. It won't be your 2nd, under no circumstances. It'll be your pick 11. and that's still a bargain.

More good hbfs the better.

Banfield fired out of a cannon into the sun.

Simpson has played what 3 games off the flank, McVee clearly better at this stage imo.

Walker I love but seems to be on the outer. Would really prefer him in as a lock down role though allowing Clark/McVee to push up.

IMO while Worner has improved I prefer Walker as a small defender. Chappy is hard to place but maybe him or McVee rotate through a wing.

For me

Ryan Pearce Walker
McVee Cox Clark

Chappy/Worner/Simpson fighting for 2 bench spots or wing if one shows aptitude (Worner recruited as such but I think honestly the least suited off the 3, Chapman probably the most).

Love a good psychosis.

I'm very happy with this (pending what we pay)

22 in an area of need. Can slot straight in. Absolute worst case is that he provides extra depth and as Brisbane literally just showed, this is important. The upside is large. He is certainly an upgrade on a couple in our half back.

I'd love to know if they have sold him with opportunities to play wing.

Pick 29, which slides out to around 35 is right on the money.

I agree with your ANB comments given McVees age. But 11 straight with nothing coming back? You happy to stick with that?

no, he's not. McVee has a lot more value due to age. Extremely highly rated.
Look, Walls is a Goober when it comes to trading so im sure they'll pay whatever is asked for but at least argue in good faith. They offered him a 2 year deal, how is THAT highly valued?

This feels like a future fourth trade. Melbourne should be grateful to get anything for a OOC former rookie pick. 🥰
