I just dont buy into the fact we need to replace him with something that shows us immediate benefit in 2026. This is the benefit we see with Jy going:

  • Sheezel more midfield minutes - Simpkin hasn't been stealing much midfield minutes to begin with
  • Duursma more opportunity as a half forward (Needs to happen) - doesn't need to happen, needs to earn it from a big pre-season. Would have had plenty of opportunity this year if he had merited it.
  • Sheezel captain - fresh face of the club - not ready for it, daresay Larkey ends up as captain next year even if Jy isn't traded
  • More opportunity for FOS and Colby in the middle - at whose expense? Jy was already 6th in the pecking order in terms of regulars behind LDU, Parker, Wardlaw, Powell & Sheezel in CBA%
  • Potential to see Urquhart at some point throughout the year - long way off being AFL ready bass off his VFL season.
  • Another draft asset coming in

I would much rather have picks say 8 and 10 in the 2026 draft than have a pick at the back end of the first round of this draft.
Load of hogwash.

This post is going to be reworded across today

Jason Sudeikis Shane GIF
I was gonna put in when he does a hair flick after he's been playing in the rain ... as there's no roof at the G... he'll get a Wella Woman sponsorship out of it too

87,000 people going "oooh" when he does his sidestep instead of 12 will be a huge factor I reckon.

Wonder how they are going to react when he dump kick turns it over or miskicks the ball in space.

Both teams were being unreasonable but there is still plenty of time to find a middle ground.

Saints just could not afford the $ anymore so blamed it on GWS.
exactly, if it was all about finding middle ground, Saints wouldnt have come out and pulled the pin. They would have just told Aleer it is tricky but will get it done somehow in the end. Pulling pin now, means something else at play which has to be dollars, in particular with Marshall not going, Windy and Wilke being upped and Steele still hanging around
