I wouldn't be surprised if our plan is actually to trade out pick 47 once it comes up (presumably it'll have come in to around the 36 to 40 mark by then).

Then we will be able to match any Whan bid with the pick in the next round that will come back into existence. If there is no bid at all then we can take a DFA.

All of a sudden the trade looks better

It’s the other parts of the trade that has everyone worked incl. me. Essentially improving both WC and Brisbane when the two of them couldn’t strike a deal.

Brisbane in particular get 45 and 51 when they shouldn’t need to. Especially bewildering when I hear comments along the lines of improving our position in the draft. If we had retained those picks. Then we could have used 45 and 47 to get further up the draft or otherwise at least demand F3 for the privilege of getting those additional picks. West Coast and Brisbane and Freo could have done a three way F3 swap so we end up with WC F3 for example.

Picks I can understand, I doubt those academy kids are going to kick 30 goals and lay 60+ tackles next year, which is what they are giving up if they trade Hayward.
