Depends where you end up playing Sid Draper, I think he'll play a similar role to Levi Ashcroft on the wing

Isaac Cumming is for sure on the other wing (Hinge isn't even on my best 23 side) with the defence butts MM bond worrell keane Milera

Just think Hayward doesn't improve the side, he was worth it as a free hit but not now, especially if it's a future FR, never know what targets might pop up for next year

Just complicates the line up for a 1% gain
I agree its subjective but to me, Draper HAS to kick on to become an A grade mid. We are crying out for him to and we invested pick 4 on him so i would be giving him every opportunity to develop as a centre square mid.

But yep, if you had to pay a 1st for hayward, i'd rather grab a player in the draft this year. Or even if we don't feel there is a standout at our pick 16, could we trade it to next year for a f1 and maybe a 2nd this year and just draft a bit later in this draft and load up with an extra 1st next year?

This is being way overblown, he's a big strong country lad not disimarly built to Jai Newcombe.

I'm not seeing this as a negative, but a positive. He'd be incredibly difficult to push off the ball or tackle I reckon. That's exactly what you'd want in big bodied midfielder. If only he had a little more speed, I'd be happy with Newcombe level speed if that's the comparison.

If he came, he'd challenge fog for the biggest thighs in this side.

Absolute fail if pick 4 mid is not A grade.

How do we feel about teams encouraging their own contracted players to move clubs in order to facilitate a trade?

Sydney the latest example. Hayward and Florent basically told they need to go in order to bring Curnow in. Both on long contracts and committed to the club.

This is something we have seemingly avoided for some time, though we can’t say for certain.

Personally I’m not a fan. Those players committed to you, it should go both ways. And it has the ability to destabilise the locker room, regardless of whether they end up leaving or not.

Hayward had a poor year but he’s only 27 next season. Plus it appears they’re also giving up one (possibly two!) first rounders.

This team dominated 2024 but just choked on GF day, before having a down follow up year which many have had. Curnow helps fix their tall forward woes but gee it’s a lot to give up for a 29 year old, and I don’t mean just in trade currency.

Those players have to agree.

For me it would be a step towards not needing permissions to trade players, which would be a HUGE step towards equality in the competition.

So personally im ok with it.

I think it's something that can be done well in the right circumstances, but is risky. You want to be absolutely sure that the trade you're planning is going to go ahead, first of all. No good telling a player you'd like them to move to help you with a trade, and then the trade doesn't happen and you also lose the player.

You also want to do it in a way where the player's teammates don't feel like they were pushed out the door. It should be presented as an opportunity which can be pursued if the player wants, but no pressure, otherwise their remaining teammates will start looking over their shoulders.

In the right circumstance it can be a win-win, but it can also blow up in your face. I'm happy for us to avoid it for the most part.
