Since Rowbottom's been in the AFL system, there have been more years where Gold Coast & Collingwood have been interested in him than years where they haven't.

So he has had literally years to consider a future with either of those clubs. If it was something he wanted, then there would never have been an easier opportunity to do so than this trade period.

Sly from Collingwood to approach him again to test the waters.

For those saying lions won without a big franchise key forward.

Morris is a franchise forward. His next deal is going to be 1m plus
They also would’ve lost in the semi final without Joe Daniher last year, and who knows if they go out early in the finals again last year if they could have overcame 6 years of finals failures to win it this year.

Similarly Geelong don’t make it to the GF without Jezza in 2022.

and how many goals did he kick

I think he may well end up being a very good tall forward. It doesnt change the trend or the statistics. It adds to it

The 1.1 goal, 1 Contested Mark, 9 disposal Logan Morris?

He slotted the first goal and that was the biggest impact he had on the game.

Not saying he won't be good but he wasn't exactly the difference maker on the day

We don't have franchises in aussie rules , we have clubs
He’s talking about players being a franchise not clubs dude

Heard SEN talk about something similar to this today I think, saying each club should have a franchise player

Anyways.
Just a observation.
Weather looks mint in Sydney tomorrow for Curnow.

Another observation.
This thread has a posting rate similar to a rd7 loss.

It's weird how all these posters come out of the woodwork to mash their "keyboards" in this trade thread yet are oddly absent when the swans win a game.
Night all

Also if you want to talk about key forwards not impacting grand finals, then how about when we’ve been on the end of it twice - [PLAYERCARD]Tom Hawkins[/PLAYERCARD] kicking 2 early goals out of the ruck to give all the momentum and confidence to Geelong in 22 and Tom Boyd being BOG in 16.

I spoke to James a few hours ago.

The whole thing was media BS drummed up by bored journos.

Was never a possibility of leaving
Speaks to what an absolute flog his uncle BT is, one of the first to spruik that BS, on national TV no less.

We were in it to win it in 22 and 24. We were not a KPF short then...

In 2012 we had Reid.

Last years dominant forward was Bailey and Charlie Cameron

Year before Lohman and Ah Chee

Year before that Hill

Year before that Stengle and Smith

Year before that Fritsch

Etc etc etc

I really, really want to eat these words but I do not think Curnow gets us closer to a Premiership.

Fixing our mids by adding more quality to rotate through should have been the focus.

halleluh brother (sister ?)

Its depth through midfield that really matters. I dont see curnow helping us against gold coast, hawthorn or brisbane where we need help.

Im sort of looking forward to cox using curnow as longmire used reid as the spare behind the ball after someone kicks the sixth in a row against us

Pppfffttt

JPK was BOG that day and I will die on that hill.

On flipside, Franklin was playing on the other side that day...

And as stated, that was our Rucks getting cooked

Not sure what your point is, Tom Hawkins was a star key forward and his forward rucking ability was a major strength of his?

One of our forwards will ruck, almost certainly Amartey but it’s still something one of your key forwards has to do.

This is our Schneider + Dempster for pick 26 moment for this decade. 2 beloved players sacrificed to try and better the team and in this case it’s for Charlie.

Ned Bowman has to come on now. He’s our only medium forward on the list.

Is it really that hard ?

He won the ball in the ruck not as a tall forward. If you want a powerful forward who can ruck we can use ladhams.

Tom Boyd was playing as a ruck (by the way against tippett and buddy who were both tall forwards and were anonymous.)

Buddy also injured his foot four minutes into the game.

GFs are just one of a minimum of ~17 games you need to win in a year to win a flag anyway.

If Reid gets injured earlier in the season, we never make it to the GF in 2022. If Jack Riewoldt isn't on their list, there's no Tigers dynasty.

You seem very pissed off with me for some reason. Strange. i dont believe we've ever communicated.
I wouldn't mind bedford. He is like that at times. If you really want to get on his good side, start posting Simpsons GIFs. He is an absolute nuffy for The Simpsons. You're welcome 😉

In 2016 our big key forward did his ankle early in the game and it was downhill from there. In 2022 we lost Reid early and it was downhill from there. In 2024 we played a hobbled McDonald and it was downhill from there.
Big forwards can make a difference in GFs.
