This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

I think we have broken not only *FC and it supporters, but also opposition supporters.

That Merrett trade thread, the emotional investment from opposition supporters in particular, it is beyond words
I think Eagles fans are still broken from the TB trade.

And so it begins… trade deadline day…

Any excuse to pull a gif from my favourite film

We offered far too much for a 30 year old, and I'm DELIGHTED that Essendon have rejected the offer.

Our midfield is gonna be fine IF Day plays a full season and we see improvement from Mackenzie & Butler.

Trade Week narratives don't count for shit.

3/4 time in the prelim. That's when everyone knew we needed two more mids, not just one.

I'm sure the list management crew have something lined up today.

Natural improvement in Ward, Mackenzie and Butler.

Day back, more midfield time for Moore. McDonald.C training with mids, was drafted as a mid. Has pace and xfactor.

Wiz looking for some midfield time. Anderson looks promising as a fwd / mid.

Plus any trade in and or drafted.

Improvement and promise is there, I agree.

I'm talking about winning on grand final day. Our club's approach makes it pretty clear. Reid, Petracca, Butters, Humphrey, Merrett. We want one more star midfielder.

We reach the clock tower of trade period and now we are ready to make our move.

At the beginning of the trade period, Mark McKenzie stated that we were looking for a midfielder and wanted someone who could play as a forward mid.

I am very confident that at the end of today the Hawks will have brought in two players that will help us go for flag number 14 next year and we will all be celebrating the work done by Mark McKenzie, [PLAYERCARD]Jarryd Roughead[/PLAYERCARD] and the list management team in improving our list as our premiership window opens next season.

The concern with Day is that he can’t play a full season and he’s no certainty he’ll get over his foot injuries.
It reminds me of Croads foot that forced him to retire

That's a lot of if's and hope that we see natural improvement from the current crop we are developing. If that doesn't happen or it takes longer than expected, that's potentially another year wasted.

This is why we've made it no secret that we've gone hard for A grade midfielders this trade week who will slot right in from day one and boost what every tom, dick and harry can see is the one weakness this side has which is preventing us taking that next step.

Despite Days most recent foot injury being caused from impact?

Nothing similar to Croads, Croads was a fractured foot that risked potential permanent immobilisation

I miss you when you’re not around.

But also, don’t make me heckle your next presser for getting my hopes up! I’m a fragile soul.

I've got a good feeling about this

You've started my morning off very nicely Newmo! Let's go Hawkers

Forget DeGoey, won’t happen and I’m glad it won’t.

Everyone just needs to relax and enjoy the last day of bullshit and spin.
Merrett or no Merrett, we’ll be just fine and I’ll certainly be happy to get through a trade period with all of Frenchy, Butts, Ward, Croc, Wiz, Calsh and Weddle to build on.

I do believe the Hawks may yet surprise on the last day.

Do you really believe we'll be fine with NO Merrett, or A grade midfielder?

Without something big being added to our midfield, we're hoping and praying for internal improvement beyond what Josh Ward achieved this year.

Addressing this midfield issue is the difference between anticipating a top 4 finish or a potential flag.

I hope you are right Newmo. That said the question of how this all ends pales by comparison to the more obvious one, how on earth do you post this before 7am and get over 20 likes?

We've made the cardinal sin of trying to engage with * in trade week, a club that won't even acknowledge our trade proposal, but it's not too late. We apologise to Zach and present a similar offer to GCS for Humphrey and suggest to them if they don't wanna play ball then we're going all in on Trac. Meantime, * can pat themselves on the back for winning trade week, just like they did when they refused to trade Daniher.
