Tutelage under Cox & did a lot of work to improve his ruck-game post injury when he lost the leap he once had. Honestly think he'd be a great get.
Agreed, was just making a joke about his general freakiness.

I think Nic's ability to read the running patterns of mids and palm the ball into their path would be particularly valuable to Bailey, with his insane knack for winning hitouts that somehow disadvantage our rovers.

Honestly don't ever recall noticing that he had lost his leap because he still just continually managed to pwn opposition ruckmen regardless.

Nic is probably the best pure tap-ruck I’ve ever seen… but I wonder if it’s even possible for him to teach the things he did to another player.

“Alright, Matt Flynn… all you need to do is jump six feet into the air and get your knees up around your opponent’s head level, then you palm the ball about twenty feet downfield while all the midfielders are still running around the centre square, then you just go and get the ball yourself and kick it inside 50. It's really simple.”
In his final year or 2 he wasn't jumping that high so he should have an idea about body work.

We've got a lot of different era champions around the club now.

Woosha & Pyke from the 90's Eagles
Shuey, Hurn and Nic Nat (maybe) from the 2018 Eagles
Harry Taylor & Duncan from the Cats (2010 & 2022)
Mini and Clarke from Tigers 17-20

Gepp from the 90s, mid-2000s and 2018

Should go for Todd Goldstein - offer him WAFL + Ruck coach.

I like your thinking. Would be a good option

Biggest problem would be those two roles wouldn’t ordinarily pay enough to encourage him to move across the country.

Ruck coach is a part time position and the WAFL players aren’t paid well at all - those roles combined probably aren’t commanding much more than $150k, if that

Be worth a phone call though just in case

He could also run a HJs franchise to top up his income?

I doubt he's much chance to head over - but I did hear he was chasing cash after a costly split, so he'll go where the money is at most likely - could probably lob to the VFL and get paid more for doing less...but could also step into coaching at AFL level, which might appeal.

I'm slightly worried about our coaching stocks TBH. Duncan seems like a great get but the top clubs have these recent ex-players come on as development coaches and have experienced assistants as line coaches. Duncan is coming in as our defensive coach, which seems like a lot for someone so new?

Would have loved us to get some quality experienced assistants. Maybe we tried but had no luck.

Duncan is here to impart the Cat's IP around defence. We've got plenty of coaching experience around with Woosha overseeing things.

I think the idea for most coaches during a rebuild is to build a coaching team that grows with the players. Mini has his philosophy and has spent this year figuring who he needs to get in to make it happen. He's made big strides in that regard after exposing the whole list to AFL, identifying targets to bring in (so far two experienced defenders and hopefully Dev for midfield) and moved on those that don't want to be in for the journey (Allen, Ryan and Chesser chose to leave).

The aim is to win a flag (hopefully in 5 years in 2030) and the start is building the foundation and then growing together.
