Thoughts on trading any 2 of pick #7, pick #8, F1 (Melbourne), F1 (Gold Coast) for pick #2 from WCE to draft Cooper Duff-Tytler to learn from Gawn for a couple of years before (hopefully) succeeding him?
This place would absolutely melt down if we traded up for CDT.

Based off what King is trying to do, think guys with pace and/or kicking skills when drafting for us, and don't worry too much re positional needs (though a small forward could be nice).

Grlj, Lindsay, Dovaston and Phillipou will all be around the mark and have at least one of those traits. Wouldn't be surprised if we have interest in NHH, Xavier Taylor and Cumming, too.

Dees fans - with advanced apologies if I am meant to **** off and not post on your board.

I have your mob in a mock draft being run on the Dogs board so would welcome any views on draft preferences for pick #7 and pick #8; and also keen to understand:
  1. Thoughts on bidding on Dean at pick #7, or using the threat to get something out of Carlton?

  2. Thoughts on trading any 2 of pick #7, pick #8, F1 (Melbourne), F1 (Gold Coast) for pick #2 from WCE to draft Cooper Duff-Tytler to learn from Gawn for a couple of years before (hopefully) succeeding him?
No chance we'll trade our F1. We know we'll be probably bottom 4 next year so trading that would be disastrous.

Yeah, we may bit on Dean. but who knows with the bidding process. Clubs still like to pass over nominating a lot of time.

I think Cumming, Grlj, Schubert, Sharp, Doveston, Philippou and Lindsay would all be in the mix. A huge call for us on Schubert. In desperate need for a true sized key forward but geez, he's a terrible shot for goal. Something that the dees are already horrendous at.

Dovaston is good, would play straight away and be a fan fav and fun to pair with Kozzy. Only thing I hate is the constant knee dropping chasing free kicks. He's strong thru the hips should use that instead of trying to get free kicks. Good tackler, good link up player high up the ground, above average disposal, average set shot can be hit and miss. Surprised hes #18 in Twomey's phantom draft.
Agree, think he looks a fair bit better than some of the others ahead of him - Talent League stat line is 16 d / 5 t / 2.5 g

40% of disposals are contested.

There was a video out there of him playing for Richmond's VFL team, missed 3 shots but looked pretty bloody good.

We may need to hang on to next year's firsts anyways....

I'll take everything bad I've ever said about Brad Green back if he can somehow get Humphrey to the club. Humphrey is either the worlds best troll or he is desperate to get out. Can only hope he puts minimal effort in next season and drives his price down next offseason.

yeah it seems like the speedy types will be King's request.

so that's:
-Grlj
  • Cumming
  • Dovaston
  • Phillipou
  • Hibbins-Hargreaves.
  • Lindsay (But we already have a clone in him with namesake Xavier Lindsay)
  • Oscar Taylor
  • Xavier Taylor
  • Harley Barker
  • Thredgold

And it would rule out:
  • Greeves
  • Sharp

* Schubert who I don't really want would have to be considered pure needs though.

We should get Lindsay and Xavier Taylor just to really **** with people

How have North not copped more shit for trading their first rounder this year to Richmond for a couple of second rounders? That has to be one of the worst pick swaps ever.

Brady Rawlings is a horrific list manager. For all the breaks they've been given in the draft they still keep messing it up.

overrated. Another 16 disposal and 1 goal a game season coming up.

Jack Nicholson Yes GIF

Would anyone do a pick swap with Carlton. So they could get ahead of a bid on Harry dean. It would have to be a very good deal for us.

Example
Out- Pick 7
In -pick 11 + plus f1 tied to Sydney

Think it will require 7+8 to get there - I can't see us pulling that trigger (even then WCE/Rich might say not enough).
My guess would be we'd offer the GC future 1st and pick 7 to maybe Richmond (with perhaps a future 2nd or 3rd coming back our way) to get up high enough for Robey. It's just classic Jason Taylor stuff to go hard at who he really wants.

I get it - but I wouldn't take that deal if I was Richmond.

Historically, moving up costs a lot.

For sure, but look at it this way - Tiges are on a slower burn rebuild than us, so they may have more patience with the draft and might like next year's draft better. If we traded 7 and (let's say) 14 to them for 4, they're getting the equivalent of pick 25 for free (from a points value perspective) as well as being more invested in a (likely) better draft. All hypothetical, but I don't think it's beyond the realms.

I think we would. But I can’t see you offering that, it’s effectively 2x top 10 picks for an unproven afl player, no matter how good you think Robey is (and I think he’s excellent) you’re really taking on an awful lot of risk. Especially if next year goes poorly again and the future pick becomes Dougie or even just a top 5 pick like the last 2 seasons.
