Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Fairly clear that we’re missing:
1 more explosive small forward
I’d look at Dovaston in this draft.
1 more dynamic midfielder
Walker and Ison
1 more key defender
Dean
Another key forward.
Target Ben King in free agency
With 4 key pieces needed, I’d say we are out of the running for Butters and we may be looking like another offseason like this one.

Perhaps a throw at the stumps at Bailey Humphrey and then collecting a few b-graders.
I agree. Selling the farm would be unwise. Butters would be immense but the asking price will be 4 firsts.

What's everyone's thoughts on McGovern? Should we just rip the bandaid off and back in some youth, might be worth opening up another list spot might get a slider with a later pick
I'd prefer to keep him..
I think when he's fit, he is a contributor (albeit, a flaky one sometimes).
Can also kick a goal..

Good depth..

With Curnow leaving and Kemp probably needing some time returning from an achilles injury, I think there’s a great opportunity for McGovern to play forward.

With better players around him like Hayward, Ainsworth, Frankie and Chesser and better delivery into the forward line may bring out the best in McG as a key forward along with Harry.

DO you draft doveston when we just brought in ainsworth and heyward?
Absolutely. We need more quality and competition for spots in that area. IMO we have had the worst small forward group in the league for a long time. It'd be nice to make that a strength of our team. And we're also highly likely to delist E. Hollands, F. Young, and White before the draft, so it's not like we won't need another one.

He can play at either end of the ground and we don’t have great depth especially with injuries to HOF and Kemp keeping them out for the start of the season so I reckon he survives.

He would have been delisted if we got Khamis. I reckon he might play a few games at the start of the season in the forward line but hopefully by mid season he is just a break glass back up option.

“Small/medium” forwards will be one next season IMO. H as the focal, maybe HOK until Kempy returns but still mobile.

J.Smith in the midfield

Agree and not a pseudo KPD. Waiting game for HOF & Dean however.

See above

Are we expecting Kemp to miss preseason?

Achilles vary quite a bit - unlike ACL.

I would have thought he's every chance to be playing from the start of the practice matches.

Do you remember in 2023 when McGovern had a shot on goal from about 40 metres out to win the game?
He missed kicked out on the full about 10 metres.

2024? He also kicked a big after the siren goal for the Crows to tie against the Pies many years ago. I would hope that his worth to the team and his list spot is decided by more than one kick. Sticks would have been delisted by his out on the full against the * when we only needed a point to win.

Was that the time Gov had just been severely crunched and was delirious ... when he should've handballed it off?
if so, I'm cutting him some slack for that one .. as disappointing as it was.

2024, after we almost pinched the game via a 5 goal to 1 quarter, including a final 10 minutes with a 3 goal rush, on Pendlebury's 400th.

The players ran themselves into the ground that night after cooking the match for 3 quarters.

Not sure we are in a position to assume we should be going after any free agents at this stage. A lot is riding on how we play and coached next year.

We need to see what impact Jagga can have and even though he won't be playing at his full potential, we should get an idea of what type of player we are dealing with. Add Cody Walker the year after and you wonder if we should be chasing any type of midfielder in FA. Then you have the odd player who will pop up out of nowhere either from our list of an unexpected recruit picked up cheaply.

Then how will our forward line look with such big changes? Are we better off drafting our own key forwards and backing ourselves to pick the right one's over the next few years.

We will know how to attack next offseason half-way through next year. Coaching is everything for us in 26.

Agree. We need to draft a KP forward and I’d rookie Lemmey.

You have zero sympathey for Lij and you say he won't be at Carlton BUT you are ok offering TThomas a 1yr contract.

That's fine as it's your opinion but I respectfully disagree.

TT has more baggage than the baggage carousels at Tullamarine.

There is NO WAY TThomas will ever be at Carlton and as for Lij, I hope he stays and given every chance to prove himself.
I rate him and that is my opinion
I’m not concerned either way but it seems you have intimate knowledge of Elijah’s mistake and your still happy for him to play at Carlton , I also have knowledge of what Elijah has done and there is zero chance he’ll be playing for Carlton so. I respectfully disagree with you that Elijah is redeemable as far as Thomas goes it’s an absolute storm in a tea cup you got your knickers in a knot over a suggestion, I personally couldn’t care less if Thomas was at Carlton or not so stop trying to label me as some sort Thomas sympathiser I don’t condone anything his done which seems to be your problem with me .

Where did I say I had knowledge of Lij's 'mistake'
What I said was 'I hope he stays and given every chance to prove himself.
I rate him and that is my opinion'.

Way to twist my words.

Getting my knickers in a knot over Thomas, what are you on about.
I'm not the only one that disagrees with your TThomas comment that you are happy to give him a 1yr contract and how am I trying to label you a TT sympathiser.

All I did was respond to your post and gave you my thoughts/opinion on each of your points in a respectful manner and now you take cheap shots at me.

Seems you have a problem with my response.

Let it go as it won't end well!
