Speculation Josh Weddle [OOC 2026] - Essendon offer huge contract

Yes I agree re Merrett signing new contract’s.

Until recently though he brought into the plan ….. It’s like a light globe came on in his head.

Then for what ever reason he has gone DAM! I have been doing this for the last 10 plus years.

I am at the end of my career and the bombers are further away from a premiership than when I was first recruited.
I think we're in agreeable here

good day sir

Nope. I'd say it's probably the same with most Hawthorn supporters.

It's Geelong #1. Competitive rivalry and a lot of history, especially in the last four decades. Two modern juggernauts.

Essendon is #2 and it's really just history. We couldn't be further apart as a club over the last 20+ years. One a modern day juggernaut, the other a laughing stock.

The AFL would agree as well. We only got to play against you once this season. Maybe we'll get two games in 2026 after what's happened which will be nice to pencil in 8 points.

I agree

1. Cats and Hawks are epic due to the final battles.

2. Bombers V Hawks … To be fair there was time in the line in the sand game where we was the shit team and the bombers where the bomb! Fantastic we have turn it around though…..!!!

Essendon being a laughing stock and still being at #2 is huge.

Id hazard a guess that our (Ess/Haw) crowds would be of similar size to that of Haw/Geel

Essendon and Hawthorn crowds are always going to be big now we are playing in Round 1. Before 23 we were regularly at Marvel

I am guessing but I’d put money on Hawks and Bomber games having bigger crowds.. Than Cats and Hawks. Not including finals.

I think that is where the problem is for Essendon. The question was the last gun to join a bottom 4 team not someone who is being paid the money of a gun but is nowhere near it

It’s Essendon #1 and it’s not even close. The Bombers have been rubbish for so long but Hawks v Dons is downright hatred. The AFL absolute know this, why is why we played them first up after the WADA ban and why we now play the Dons first up every year.

I know North supporters in real life and even they could not give a shit about Essendon.

the only people who care about Essendon v North are the very few on Bigfooty
They must be young. I’m still living in the 90s when it was a real thing. Hopefully we rise together and marshmallows become relevant again.

I think it's also a generational thing.

Ask a younger Hawthorn supporter and they probably couldn't give a toss about Essendon. They'd probably consider Geelong the clear #1 standout and possibly Sydney as the #2.

It's history holding the rivalry together because it certainly hasn't been on field spite.

No problem. Done! Just bare in my mind the first rounders will be picks in the 20s though. That cool? 🤣

You need to have one top5 pick and a player as well though say Durham. Like the bombers we want edge our bets 10 different ways to ensure one comes good for us.

I’ll be happy to death the bombers on their future first round picks.

🤣🤣🤣🤡

I think Weddle has more value than Ah Chee IMHAHATO

Do you opine that Joshua Weddle will be an Essendon Bombers player galloping down the wings of Marvel in 2027?
No chance - but bad Brad has the gloves off and wants to fight. He may need a distraction to survive the 26 season.

Yeah it’s the same as the Roos v Ess rivalry. Cats have the Hawks and ess is an annoying team that pops up every now again. You could try Carlton or Collingwood but they have each other.

Tassie is coming in - maybe try them on.

I know this is a troll but the amount of animosity between the Hawthorn and Essendon clubs is impressive given they haven’t been up at the same time for about 25 years. That simply wouldn’t happen with Hawks v Cats.

They are easily Hawthorn’s top rival, and I presume we’d probably be their second (behind Carlton). But then again, Carlton are Collingwood and Richmond’s top rival too. So I guess everyone hates Carlton…

I don't see it that way.

If the AFL thought our rivalry was bigger than the Cats we'd be playing the Bombers twice a year.

And before you mention equalisation of the fixtures, we've been playing the Cats twice a year even when we were struggling in the bottom 4.

So Hawks have a Cats thread devoted to their obsession with them as well? You guys must pay more attention to other clubs than your own.

Likely bigger. Round 1 Dons v Hawks averages 75,000 plus at the MCG. Which is bigger than Easter Monday.

But that has more to do with the fact that Essendon is bigger than both Hawthorn and Geelong. If Essendon ever won a knock out final, Essendon v Hawthorn / Carlton / Collingwood would be enormous.
