Training Saints preseason 2026

People are quick to forget the first two games of 2024 where he played as a roaming CHF

31 disposals, 14 inside 50s, and 5.4 across two games against the eventual Premiers and eventual prelim finalists. He glided across the turf for 90%+ TOG in both games

I'm not 100% that put the "lack of tank" criticism to bed but I do think CHF is where he would be most valuable to Saints. I find it interesting that supporters talk King at FF and Marshall at CHF. To me it would ideally be the other way around. Marshall is stronger and better at getting ball to ground and we have a fleet of smalls. Sharman and/or Owen are leading targets.

King has shown he is not great sitting under the ball one on one. He is also not great on a lead in congestion. But he can look dangerous a la Nick.R when he gets up the ground and uses his mobility. Saints have missed a KPF that is a transition target from HB to forward line. King seems to have more attributes to play that role than Marshall. If he has the tank.

I knew a lefty who could only play right handed guitars!
See that's a contentious issue for me, I'm a touch ambidextrous but right side dominant, but I argue that a so-called right handed guitar which uses your left hand as your fret hand - means that surely your left hand is doing the bulk of the fine motor work and is therefore a left-handed guitar? I think there are some tasks where the way we traditionally teach them means they are "allocated" as right handed, but are they really?

I'm basically right-handed but couldn't use my right hand to fret a guitar, because that's not the way I have learned to do that action, but surely my right side is better at fine motor skills and slightly stronger?

My guitar teacher, ( who was very good ) always recommended right handed guitars to lefty's.
a) you could get guitars without going Jimi.
b) after the initial learning curve, plucking/strumming with the right hand while holding a chord or slowly finding notes , the left hand becomes the hand that does the most work and the left hand that needs more strength.

Eric Clapton was left handed , played right handed, Mark Knopfler , BB King . I don't know of any famous guitar players who were right handed and played left handed.

We are still waiting for Hunter Clark to become the player we thought he might!😂😂

At least Trav can run and has some sort of work ethic....
I have heard, and please take this with a pinch of salt, that Hunter has upped his cigarette per day numbers by at least 4-5 darts. Additionally, he has been introducing liquid shots of Minoxidil with his morning coffee.

Big year ahead for the world's most unimpressive athlete.

Also the only player you will never see in any photos doing extra sessions before pre season unlike Nas, Windy, Wilson and I'm sure i don't need to go on . Its a shame he thinks he doesn't need to do extra work ( Now i wait for the same few to come at me )

Yeah, if there were left-handed guitars lying around everywhere there might be. My 6yo boy is completely left-handed, but I'm not buying him a left-handed guitar only to have him quit a few months later. So if he learns, it'll most likely be on my right handers.

Could be that pure right handers pick up the strumming and picking more easily and struggle a bit more with chords early on. Being 50-50, I was equally garbage at both for a few years. If you keep doing it, it probably doesn't matter much in the end. If you suck, there's always bass 😉

I criticise Max as much as anyone BUT i do think we really dont know what he could be because weve so rarely seen him in a decent team with any support.

It happened like 2 times but our forward line looked really dynamic when King and Hayes played together and in alot of ways Ben has benefitted from having talent around him stretching defenses.

Max, to date, has been the only tall or even medium forward worth a dedicated opponent and then having the zone defenders peeling off to monster him. On the rare occasion he can run or move and go one or even two out he looks amazing.

Weve now got a midfield that can move the ball and a couple of other weapons up forward that command some respect and this will make Max a totally different prospect IMO.

This is about the biggest cherry picks of all time. You see maybe a half dozen players in an occasional photo. Im guessing the other 36 are also not doing any extra sessions right?

The amount of time King was double and triple teamed under Richo and Ratten yet we kept long bomb to him because we were not good enough to win contested ball cleanly and delivered it lace out or at least to King's advantage, it really is deplorable... I'm not saying this is the only reason, but Mccartin would have been a much more effective player in a good team with a half competent midfield as well.

People argue Riewoldt also had poor delivery most of his career but was able to battle through. But Riewoldt had Harvey, Hayes, Dal Santo, Montagna, Goddard kicking to him. King had Seb Ross and Jack Steven, night and day!

And here you are , Well lets see how he looks at the start of Pre season , I'm betting no different to what he did 5 years ago

Here's one for petty handedness issues.

Both my wife and I are left handed, however I am.only left handed for throwing/bowling, racquet sports and writing, everything else right handed/footed.
My wife is predominately left handed. Every time she uses the laptop in our back office, the mouse is moved off the mouse pad on the right hand side and is always left positioned on the left of the keyboard.
Biggest first world problem in history 🤣🤣

No shitting dacks , Just stating that in all the years i don't ever recall seeing Hunter doing the extra work , Happy to be corrected

Trust old Woffaboy to jump in , cant help itself

Ruck rule is good for us.

Interesting to see how we manage the new stand rule as we have moved back off the mark.

And as for all this handiness talk. All you lefties are freaks.

We were good scouts on the stand rule originally. Perhaps we can adapt quicker than others.

I wonder if we do the opposite to coming off the mark which was to compress the space behind us.

So in this case we push up now that we have a much bigger side and are a threat aerially.

Which means taking away the chip kicks and the run to allow for 1 on 1s down the line?
