Shultz left us for the pies🙏
Shultz partner was going through a bit with her family and needed to head home to Victoria. Club did the right by Shultz and Collingwood came to the table with a solid offer.

I imagine if it goes down that road the pies won’t stand in the way of Bobby Hill.

Along with Treacy, one of those astute pickups that could end up winning you a premiership.

Now that his kicking has improved he's a bona fide gun key forward (of which we now have 3).

Maybe most importantly, releases Jackson to dominate around the ground

Pat Voss being a catty bitch isn't something I knew I needed, but I'm very much here for it.

I think Vossy can sit back and compare players like Merrett and Fyfe. Both darn good players (well one slightly better !!!), but one revered around the club for loyalty even through adversity, the other departing when the going gets too tough.

Loyalty is so underrated in many ways.

I do not begrudge or blame Merrett wanting out of Essendon. He's played there 12 years and they've done jackshit to improve. Fyfe at least could see the club getting better and building a capable list.

Merrett's 29 now and actively being moved out of the midfield for other younger players. Loyalty has it's limits.

I dunno even at the time I thought that was weird. Who are these young tyros who need checks notes one of the best complete mids in the comp moved to half back so they can get more rotations? Hobbs, Caldwell? Setterfield? They're spuds!

Caldwell is no Merrett but he’s no spud either. Absolutely is room for both though

Congratulations to the Prancing Pony on his Best Clubman award.

When I played footy the Best Clubman award was for the kid who tried hard but wasn't quite good enough to win any of the other trophies.

But the award is now much more than that.

He has applied himself to training, doing the extra work with his Voss Academy, bringing enthusiasm for his team mates and he has turned his career around.

Congratulations to the best celebrator in the game!

One of my favourite players to watch.

The best club man award was Bailey Banfield's to lose, and he did!

No insult intended to Bailey as he does some amazing charity work and has done for years.

There will come a game, and I hope it's against a side like Brisbane or Hawthorn or Collingwood, who are in the market for a tall forward, where he will tear it up and kick six or seven goals from ten to twelve marks.

The reality for Voss is that he either forces a massive change in structure at Freo, pushes Treacy, Amiss or Jackson to Peel or leaves for opportunities elsewhere.

Choosing to hope for the best for all parties, I hope he clicks with his kicking and becomes a weapon averaging three to four goals a game. Given he will be out of contract and a free agent when he is due to being delisted before joining us, a side could throw quite a bit of money at him to take that marking power and handful of goals a game away.

Fremantle ends up with another first round pick from the AFL. Voss gets paid career money, plays #1 forward.

Hell, sign him to a one year extension during next season if his performance is justifying it and come end of 2027 Tasmania will make the hard list choices very simple for us. They'll buy him to be the grunt up forward.

All depends on him taking great steps with his set shot kicking, he has his career in his hands.
You nailed it here
