The trouble with this pick, and it is not Sam Grlj, what prominent role if any is he supposed to be doing??
people can say pick 8 but CFC, Gold Coast and all other clubs could not access pick 8, they had their academies but they could not access pick 8.
Like if pick Sam Grlj, why not trade back and pick him?

Worst case he ends up being a super damaging half back flanker imo. Not convinced he can make it as a mid, but I hope once he gets a bit stronger he proves me wrong.
Said months ago that he’s the one I wanted. Richmond did an amazing job of not revealing who they wanted. Must say up to 5pm today I was in a chat with a few and saying a couple of player managers had no idea. Says a lot about our team.
Grilj is dynamite. I know club believe he will turn into a midfielder in time. His pace and endurance combo is unique. He will make things happen. Butters without the prolific element of possessions yet, but could come.

trying to avoid a Butters scenario to be honest.
Looking at Sam Cummings thinking Leigh Mathews. But seriously Leigh is a stupid bar it is is not fair on Sam C but Leigh was all about winning premierships
At least for Duursma the Bont comparisons Bont has won one premiership and played in another GF

Vic metro captain, has the attributes we absolutely need pace and agility and acquitted himself very well in 2 VFL games he played with us as a 17yo ,,, yea terrible choice
Thing with roby is his midfield work was not dissimilar to smillie , with his marking ability likely to spend more time f50 . With the talls we have invested , we don’t need that so invest in pace was the need to have filled

With a side step thru traffic and pace off the mark , of course he will make it as a mid , what you think he’s too slow

can't argue with the sidestep, elite. Shai without the slipping. Should make him a danger resting as a small forward
hope the new 'shrug is prior' doesn't hurt exactly his one wood, however.
