What happened to Port Power picking him up? There were a couple in here up and about after the trade didn’t go through 🤣🤣

A good (as expected) result for you today 👍

Its a draft in name only. Not since Nick Stevens has a club poached a player but even then it was 3 weeks before the draft this occurred. There is clearly an unwritten rule to it.

To think any poster in here believes they’re in a position to critique anything Brisbane has done is ****ing laughable in the extreme.

They’ve won the last two flags. You know what that means? It means you can shut the **** up.

They are presumably hoping that taking a stand here will count for something in the future, when they end up in a stalemate again. Proving that they won't blink.

Of course, in that scenario, other clubs will probably look back at this and think "hey awesome, we can just hold out and get the player for free!"

If the player is heading to an interstate club there’s only 1 other that could tempt them away. In VIC there’d be 9 others, which statistically is where most come from and would return to. So there’s still value if that was their strategy.

Although, the reality is that nobody is going to try too hard for a near 30 year old role player. Like Melbourne didn’t for a contracted ANB. Certainly nobody is going to jump in and grab them in the PSD to make a profit.

But if it was NWM in the PSD, he’d be a West Coast player right now and heading to Port for 2 firsts at the end of next year.

It comes with considerable risk. A player leaves a club because they stated publicly they wanted to play for another club. The risk if someone else picked him up, he would be requesting a trade the following year. Clubs want players committed to their club

Welcome Cal. Took you long enough!

Must be a massive relief after 5 weeks. Welcome to Adelaide. It’s a good clean break from Brisbane (after they shafted you on the way out) it’s sad to see how they treat their premiership heroes when it comes to the business side of things.

I’m sure you will leave with lots of great memories. Time to build some new ones at a real AFL club from a traditional state that rose up the ladder without any help from academies or any bs like that.

Any premiership glory will be hard earned at this club. And thats how it should be for everyone.

And not a f***n cane toad in sight.

It's always quiet on their board, they will always be miniscule to the Broncos up there.
But are they the most successful AFL club this century?
5 AFL flags
7 Grand Finals
2 AFLW flags
6 AFLW Grand Finals

That's an undeniably awesome record.

It's very discouraging for everyone else but the AFL would be delighted with this success in the rugby states.

Your point though is correct about the Broncos. Here in Melbourne, the Storm have been a leading NRL team for ages now but they rarely get recognised above any AFL news. I personally love watching sport but couldn't tell you the name of a single Storm player.

Given the advantage they have with their Academy and F&S and funding, you would expect them. Definitely picking the correct coach in Fagan and sticking with him when he media narrative to sack him played a big part. I can see GCS being as successful with Hardwick, they underachieved big time in the past with the quality of their playing list.

I can definitely critique them. Just because they won a flag doesn’t mean you have to act like a dick to one of your premiership players. Remember, they shafted him, not us!

They didn’t shaft him, they’re not required to accept whatever scraps we offered. It’s our job to get the deal done. But him being prepared to come via the PSD means we only need to offer pittance. There’s no baddies in this, it’s just business.

That was the only risk, but they’d have had to at least beat our contract offer to get his attention. They’ve got Butters to keep and NWM to get, they’ll be tightening up cap wise.

So I take it the fact no clubs enquired in the interim we don't need to front load Callum Ah Chee's contract?
We need to pay the terms he submitted.

That has nothing to do with the Ah Chee trade.

We can’t re-organise his contract, say, a year into his deal? Like stretch the 2027 money over the remaining however many years?

Didn't Geelong do that with Jack Bowes though he wasn't obtained through the PSD?
