I understand this perspective but don’t agree with it. Our team is fine, albeit I hope we can get some players in to fill some gaps across the ground. Particularly in the midfield.

You can’t compare any of the 17 teams lists with North. They’re the outlier and need to be brought back to the other 17 teams. They haven’t lost as many players as us and are out there recruiting top end talent (eg their BOG today who they recruited last season as a 2x AA).
There will be no bringing north back to the field,is up to the 17 other clubs to get to the mighty Kangas level!

Ps we have a couple of our better players to come back in

The panel postgame said the lions may lose some players this offseason which will help the struggling teams. No mention of Norf. It’s awful for the comp that there are 17 uncompetitive teams. It’s arguably bad that we have been as consistently good as we have. But having a team that hasn’t lost since I was but a young boy is a disaster!

The AFLW started with so much promise but the talent just isn't there to support 18 teams. IMO it won't improve much in the short term, so taking players from other teams will be the best way teams to improve in the short term. I followed the first 9 seasons really closely, but lost interest in the league this year and really only watched our games (or our highlights). It had nothing to do with North being so good, rather than most of the games being of poor quality.

The genie is out the bottle and there is no way the AFL/AFLW can reel it back in without drastic changes, which would mostly effect Victorian clubs. We know that this isn't going to happen, especially with this current sub-par, reactionary administration.

No one really cares. See you in the Barossa next year.

Face it. Dakota isn't really anything and the Svarc sisters need to retire. That's the baseline rebuild focus

Receiving advice from Norf on how to be good is a low point for our club. No need to beat us while we’re down.

What like a salary cap

The NRL have been much more measured in the way they've grown their women's comp, whereas the AFL wanted the feel good vibes of having all 18 clubs represented asap.

I've seen with super rugby how messy it gets when you realise that there are too many teams and you've gotta get rid of a few to get back to a more appropriate number.

The ideal number relative to the talent in the competition is 12 or 14 teams maximum. Getting to that ain't going to happen. The issue will be exacerbated if a Tasmanian team joins the competition.

NRLW is probably a lower skill base to be a good product. AFL much more difficult skill wise.

Demetriou would be leading an inquisition at this point. What does Dillon actually do?

Everyday Dillon just tries not to get fired, is the only reasonable explanation I have for how he conducts business. And in taking this approach it’ll probably lead to his firing, based on current results.

The difference is that demetriou (while an idiot) knew how to run a sporting organisation. Dillon is a weak ass sourpuss who is so afraid of losing his position that he would do anything the person next to him would suggest. The only one worse than him is Laura Kane. What's also funny is that since Greg Swann has come into the AFL house, him and Laura Kane apparantly aren't even on speaking turns. She hates Swann and there's a massive powerstruggle between them both right now. That's how ****ed this game is right now.

Ha. You'll find losing on average four players a season from the top of the list because "expansion" and "equalisation" has more of an impact you'd expect though.

Two teams take AFLW seriously and with respect. One team is forced to fight through the above. The other seems to be focused on sucking their silver spoon for all their worth.

Pretty sure last time our 2 great clubs suited up to play it ended in a draw.

Lucky for u guys its not down in Tasmania this time.
New spin: You won the AFLW and drew the premiers of the AFLM. ;)

Coaching.
Don't want to hijack the thread, but predominantly drafting midfielders and not being able to attract key defenders and forwards from other clubs has been an issue. Once you're on the rise, this should be the number 1 priority IMO.

Good question, I don’t know, Crocker has done a phenomenal job. I do feel like the mens program is on the way up but we have a long way to go.
Good luck for 2026
Go Roos

I do.
