Might be more Nash than O'Connor, as far as the Irish comparisons go?

I'd take that. He's a beast and I think we might have had a crack at luring him over. Nash is probably a good comparison too, taller than you'd expect for a guy who plays a midfield role and good all round skills that allow him to fill holes.

The sun came out in Melbourne. Still about 12 degrees but at least it's sunny.

Gilbert was a line breaking runner. Nick Blakey is probably the closest thing to him now. Both have the rugby sidestep to get around an opponent and a good pace for size factor. The Lizzard can shank them when kicking on the run at times too but a better overall user.

Hastie is a better aerial player than Gilbert and probably a bit more nimble. He's got that rubber man body that seems to contort itself out of trouble. I see no reason why he doesn't make it if he gets consistency and meets expectations. He's got nice balance, really good hands, fast and different to anything else we have. The rest is up to him.

I see no reason why he won’t make it too. A VFL game I watched at Moorabbin last season he dominated in patches and clearly looked a class above. Not often a player pops like that. Tauru popped like that. Just kept finding it and gaining meters with his run. What I call a swivelling type player. Psychology looks determined too. I think he’s looking to be ambitious with his disposal which is good but requires fine tuning. A little disappointed he doesn’t seem to have put on man-muscle yet (only based on a coupla snaps) but sure that’ll come.

Going to make such a difference to our team if we’re able to add the height of Max, Tom and Dougal to the group we generally had this year.

We got smashed in contested marks most weeks and next year it could very easily become a strength.

Could have marking power all over the ground.
