England need more rounds of golf, surfing in the Coast and time in the Barossa. And the occasional cricket net session.

Say what you want about Broad, and we all hated the smarmy upper class git, but he was an absolute campaigner and gave it the kitchen sink. Very proud cricketer. Tough operator. Archer not fit to pour him a cordial.
Never gave no quarter to us and we hated him, but i respect him more than most poms

Why do the media fluff up McCullum so much? reminds me of Hinkley he's achieved three 5ths of bugger all & they pump him up.
All the contrived saviour of the Spirit of Cricket stuff said about him in the latter part of his career still makes me sick. Bloke was an absolute campaigner of the highest order.

It's a pretty logical concept, if you want to get the trophy back you have to win it back. If you can't do that, it stays with the holder.

Firstly, fetishizing an inanimate object - if you even get to take possession of that object, which you don't with the Ashes - at the expense of striving for victory is in no way a logical concept.

Secondly, there is nothing inherently logical or necessarily historical about having a trophy for a bilateral sports competition anyway.

The Border-Gavaskar trophy didn't exist until 1996. Was that the first time we played India in cricket?

As a player, Brendon McCullum was a talented, but brainless cricketer. You can get away with that when you have 10 other guys doing the team things. But if you coach all 11 players to play brainless cricket.... you end up with the English cricket team.
Be like getting Ginni to coach Hawthorn
