And now for further fun after spending the day at the G, there's a stuffed to train at Footscray that has broken down and no Vline services are currently leaving Southern Cross

🙄

Who would have guessed that Victoria’s public transport services would fall apart…

Parking would be worse given there isnt any 10 buck stuff at the ground

$20 pre booked at Melbourne Park. Not too bad and it’s usually available for MCG games.

It was pretty empty when I got there at 10 and after chatting to a mate for a while after play, it was empty when I left.

Can be pretty bad though for Collingwood games, spent a good hour trying to get out one night.

Also think MCG is going up to $15, that’s what we’re being charged for the Aus Open.

The way its going there will be like 2 games of parking at the G next year

For those of us who grew up watching test cricket (in my case from as early as the 70s) to see what we've seen in the last couple of days is really dispiriting. Having watched two 2 days tests this series makes it doubly so.

If you're younger than me and have been fed a diet of express cricket, good luck to you. I can understand you guffawing at has-beens like me. But personally, I hate that a game can be done in two days. I hate the lack of application. The wild swinging of the bat. The dancing up the pitch from ball one.

I know there are many reasons for test cricket's decline. But I will never forgive people like Brendan McCullum who see themselves as the saviours of test cricket, and who will see today as some kind of victory. When in fact, I believe he is killing the game that I love so much.
Well said. Don't let the express bullies hammer you into liking this dirge. I'm seen as a pariah for liking test cricket when the batting team is scoring at 2.8 an over but hanging in there. The bowlers building pressure, the batsmen surviving and then releasing the pressure with a boundary.

In time, I think they might just turn the Ashes into the women's version with a mix of formats.

Look good luck to young Bethel . He stepped up but is he really like David Gower. Technique , poise , discipline and bravery. Off course not yet. Wish we had a pup like him though.
The first innings was more indicative of his first class career. He is going to make a fair few pretty 40s in amongst the 8s and 3s.

If not now when?

It’s a dead rubber
That’s why you give Khawaja a fitting send off. He has earned it and there is nothing to lose. Plus he’s actually in decent form. It will be the least controversial selection of all time.

I would argue that the two tests against Bangladesh are the true dead rubbers. That will be the ideal time to experiment.

Absolutely, 24 years since Australia last won a series in England and the only comeback was no test wins in 14 for England in Australia…
Im sure the Poms are happy with not holding the Ashes for the last decade.

****in love Katto
Green needs to go back to Shield cricket and put in a couple of solid seasons with the bat before we look at him again in the test set up

And I know some will say that he's selected as an all-rounder, but that seems very match dependent as to whether or not we see that other side to his game

Across the 4 Ashes tests to date he's bowled 38 overs, taking 3/158 - 34 of them across Brisbane & Adelaide where he finished with 1/135

He really only bowls when England's innings is stretching on beyond 40->50 overs, with England batting for 75+ overs in each innings across the Brisbane and Adelaide tests

While in Perth and Melbourne their longest innings was 34.4 overs. I know there's the argument that you shouldn't need to go beyond your front line bowlers in those situations, but when you've got an all rounder who isn't having the best run with the bat, maybe that was the time to try and get him into the series a bit too see if he could take some confidence from that side of his game

He's only 26 and may well be the future Australian cricket, but right now I'm not sure his form with bat or ball is strong enough to warrant selection

Marnus avenge 24 for the series
Weatherald 20 for the series
Khawaja 30 for the the series

If you take out there 1 half century they have made, it would make there averages even worst

Green averaging 19
Inglis averaging 21

If the Poms didn’t choke in the first test it would be 2 all
Yeah and take away all the wickets Starc took the poms would be 4 nil up
Katich would walk into this side if he were playing today.
He would get f$$k all on that dung heap

So a man child with an oversized head
