It's an expected outcome. Manufacturing of that kind within the US is simply not going to be price competitive even with the tariff added to the cost of goods from Vietnam, or China.

Yeah, that's very true. The company my wife works for had to make some large scale changes of manufacture from China to Vietnam as they've been breaking into the US market for the last few years. It was absolute chaos when all the tariffs kept changing.

An unintended outcome is also the higher risk of child labour and forced labour in developing countries. As companies were making such big changes so quickly and unable (or unwilling) to do the checks required to ensure the human rights of all workers in the supply chain that had previously been done for manufacturers in China or other countries.
