In that article there's a picture at the bottom with five players and a bunch of kids from Fish Creek school. The change in Darcy Wilson is awesome. He looks like a young man now, not a kid. Really solid looking. Hoping for a massive breakout year from him.
Took the kids to the clinic at Leongatha and honestly did not even recognise Darcy at first glance.
Looks a totally different person from last year.
Also did not crack a smile once the whole time we were there just had a cold steely look on his face the whole time 😂
As long as everything goes according to plan over the rest of the pre-season I expect him to come flying out of the blocks come opening round.

tony74 Any update on Pou and King? Are they just managing loads? Also is Silvagni's groin issue as reported or potentially a bit more to it?
AI Overview

Silvagni Osteitis Pubis refers to Australian Football League (AFL) player Jack Silvagni experiencing Osteitis Pubis (OP), a painful inflammation of the pubic symphysis (where hip bones meet) common in athletes due to repetitive kicking/running, causing groin pain that needs rest, physio, anti-inflammatories, but can require surgery if stubborn, with Silvagni being a prominent example in the AFL context.
What is Osteitis Pubis?
  • A non-infectious inflammatory condition affecting the pubic symphysis joint at the pelvis's front.
  • Caused by overuse, repetitive stress (like kicking in AFL), and antagonistic forces between abdominal/adductor muscles, leading to microtrauma and pain.
Symptoms:
  • Lower abdominal and groin pain.
  • Pain worsens with activity, especially kicking, running, and sudden changes in direction.
Treatment (Conservative):
  • Rest: Crucial, often 4-6 weeks from high-impact sports.
  • Physical Therapy: Strengthening core, glutes, pelvic floor, and hip muscles.
  • Medication: NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for pain/inflammation.
  • Ice & Other Modalities: RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) principles.
Surgical Options (For persistent cases):
Why Silvagni?
  • Jack Silvagni, an AFL player,'s case highlights how this challenging injury affects elite athletes in kicking sports like Australian Rules Football, requiring significant recovery time.

Lucky we signed him and asilvagni to long term
Contracts….

SOS …
Not sure having a bloke on 1m a year that doesn't play is lucky.

King is 1-2 more serious injuries away from career over and he is signed until 2032.

Not confident his knee holds up long term. I think it is one of the riskiest contracts in the AFL.

There would be a lot of clauses in the contract that he is not meeting, I doubt he’d be on 1m to be honest.

Agreed. I think it has been stated a number of times on here that he is not on $1m per year, but that doesn't go with the narrative being sought, so, you know........

Apparently it’s around 800k.

It was a deal Max wanted for security.

Was told this 6ish weeks ago by someone who deals with his and other agents. So I’d like to think it’s somewhat accurate.

I’m hearing bad things regarding King. 100-1 shot to be fit for the start of the season. Still has a mountain of boxes to tick.
A mountain of boxes to tick?

In the last 3 weeks we have people who have witnessed him running, kicking and having set shots.

We know he has done a mountain of gym work and put on size, which would represent loading up his preparation.

We have had the herald sun confirm he will be in main training after Christmas.

Like the literal next step is Max in full training. Once in full training, it’s games.

So Feb 28 is the Essendon practice match. Which is 79 days from today.

Opening round is 87 days from today.

So we are asking a player entering his 8th pre season, to ramp up after Christmas as we heading into our match build phase of preseason.

If he isn’t ready for round 0 in just under 3 months, then the club are leaving this unbelievably late to break the news that he is behind the schedule they have put out.

He might have had a feed of mushrooms for lunch, hence the sour face:cool:

People are not hearing anything. Thia admin leaks nothing. Was standing with a couple of blokes at training last year when a well known ex player came up to us after being in the gym. Was asked about if he knew about an injury to a player ( cant remember who) and he said, ' I don't ask anymore, they never tell you a thing'.
Highly unlikely anything has been said. Unless he has had an injury, he gets stronger everytime I see him.

Pou- fine except for mouth stitches
Max- on schedule
Jack-ahead of schedule
Players during this pre season block are pushing themselves at 99.5% There will be strains/injuries as a result. If they train at 95% we are going no where. They have to push themselves to the absolute limits so there are risks

I really don’t understand why we have supporters who target max.

It’s the weirdest thing I’ve seen - probably ever from this supporter base.

Very much appreciated Tony!

Spoke to someone who is related to Kingy on Saturday. He confirmed Max is tracking well, and he hasn't had any major setbacks this preseason. The club is just easing him back into his workload, but he should be fit for round 1 if everything goes well. I asked him about Ben, and he said Ben is happy up in GC, pleased with the list and especially the coaching staff. He doesn't know much about what's happening with Ben's contract situation.

However, he did say both Kings want to play together at some point, preferably in Melbourne.
