Yes he is.

And every time some ****wit carries on about how evil muslims are they need to be reminded what that bloke's name was.

Today's an incredibly tragic day. People have had their lives taken from them and their friends and family have had loved ones taken from them and they'll be gone for the rest of their lives.

And already other people are using that tragedy to push their own political bullshit without caring that that's exactly what perpetuates these cycles of violence.

It is but people are idiots largely and our education system doesn't teach them better and they swallow rubbish from so called 'media' so its unsurprising how uninformed peoples positions are.

Any attack of this nature against Jews on Australian soil is almost certainly done by neo-nazis or Islamic fundamentalists.

It fascinates me to watch lefties struggle to come to terms with the truth that Islam is the root cause in this instance.

Islam is not the problem-a certain political ideology is and they aren't the same thing.

It's always a pleasure to see leftie 'useful idiots' make an attempt to defend Islam. Why do you fail to show up when I'm critiquing Christianity over CSA scandals, creationism in classrooms, or pro-life nonsense?

This is not the time for hate, or the time to divide. It’s a tragic event and what makes Australia truly great is all of us come together to mourn and rebuild TOGETHER. All of us. We don’t let the elements wanting to exploit tragedy like this to win.

Like I said the bravest man in Australia right now is Muslim who risked his life to save Jewish people. Hopefully he’ll be awarded a Cross of Valour.

EDIT - also remember the two security guards just up the hill at Bondi Junction who got stabbed trying to stop that psycho were Muslim, one of whom was a refugee who sacrificed his life in an attempt to stop that guy.

Oh I just mean this particular issue(Jews/Muslims).

Get what you mean about the British though, although the colonial Europeans all did the same thing when they exited their colonies.

So many issues. Thailand and Cambodia a good example of a recent one.
I'm not justifying any form of violence, but if a country has a foreign power in it, there's going to be resistance and people have long memories - I think that plays a more relevant factor.

Maybe you could enlighten me here: but Indonesia has a huge population, considered a Muslim country, but was colonised by the Dutch, IIRC, for a brief period. But I've never heard of Indonesian citizens fighting for ISIS, Al Qaeda or other groups, though if I'm not mistaken, they have a decent economy. I think poverty also plays a big part in people joining groups for Jihad*, which might make the average Indonesian think 'hang on, I'm not up for that' *which I think the meaning has been misinterpretated by the likes of AQ or ISIS in the past and I would say media in the West. The US having military bases in Saudi Arabia hasn't helped them lose their tag as The Great Satan.

I'm not a big fan of colonialism, estremism or a lot of isms, but a lot of these Lone Wolf attacks are carried out by scum who are easily brainwashed into carrying out attacks like today. You made a good point about Thailand and respecting Thai culture and it brings me to my own belief that the burkha bans in France were ridiculous, considering the French establishment at least go on about laying the groundwork for democracy, but my stance would have changed when I think French women would under no circumstances be made to cover up if they lived in certain countries. I believe you should always do your due diligence when going to a different country regarding customs, laws, faux pas, etc, but there's always grey areas when it comes to laws like the burkha ban, which I can't think of what is the right thing to do in a situation like that. Seems repressive, but when in Rome.

What's annoying is, if there is a protest of 20 Nazis marching saying 'Get them out' or whatever nonsense they spew, that'll get more air time than hundreds of people who'll go down to Bondi for a vigil to pay their respects to the dead and injured.

Indonesia has a lot of issues with Islamic terrorism, as do the Philippines, although they're mostly contained in the provinces and don't make the news much. Plenty of examples of Catholic Churches in the Philippines being shot up and attendees massacred and it's the same in certain parts of Indonesia. Both countries have also hosted training camps for the likes of Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

Burkha bans can indeed be contentious but of course, if women from those countries were to move to certain Muslim ones, they'd have to cover up. Not all though obviously.

I think of it this way - If I'm expected to behave and adhere to cultural norms when I visit a foreign country, I'll do that. It's part of the experience and you should adhere to local customs and cultural norms, where applicable.

The issue many have in the west is that despite this, we seem to be expected to do the exact same for people coming to our countries when they are the ones who should be acting accordingly by respecting our cultural norms, where applicable.

This clearly isn't happening in many cases and if you look all over social media, people are being radicalized because of it.

This is where we’ll see if our leaders have real character and they can stop the obvious agenda pushers from dominating the narrative in the days to come

F*cking sick getting any pleasure out of the response to shit like this

I might have refrained from saying the burkha ban is a fair one because a lot of racist idiots would use it as a point of reference of how 'Muslims are taking over Europe, next thing will be Sharia Law' but I don't really care much for religion and whatever people practice is their own choice - I think the reasoning the French gave for introducing the law was a bit obtuse, also. What I think can be counter-argued is that European countries, The West, faff on about democracy, core values, expression of freedom. Well, if we are the barometer for that, let women wear a burkha. I just countered my point from my previous post there. ☺️ Again, I have zero interest in religion so I can see both sides of the debate.

I'm sure in Australia one of the points a lot of the racists are against immigration is because Aussie identity will be a thing of the past? If so, what part of its identity would it lose, according to the knobheads?

Our issue is that we will lose our Christian/
Catholic values. Debunked because a lot of people don't practice religion here, especially after the abuse cover ups of the Church. Losing our identity makes me laugh as none of these racists gave a fiddlers in the past about retaining the Irish language or promoting the culture within the country. But as you say, social media has a part to play. A lot of these 'citizen journalists' make money off people who some are probably not racist, but believe something because they seen something on Facebook. But even pre social media, disinformation was a thing with mainstream media.

This is where we’ll see if our leaders have real character and they can stop the obvious agenda pushers from dominating the narrative in the days to come
It should be really clear and to the point, you'd expect, but I can't help thinking that in some way, divide and conquer tactics will come into play by the moulds of society.

Defend Islam? Suppose you’re the world expert on the religion?

There’s going to be crazies in every religion, cult, group, race, culture. Always. There’s Jewish crazies, there’s Christian Crazies - (Wellington Mosque Shooting not long ago).

This isn’t a religion problem. You can have morals and values, be an atheist and still be a crazy.

Two men doing such a disgusting act doesn’t excuse or verifies anything about a religion. It’s verifies the cowardice, smallmindedness and weekness of two men that think their calling is higher than those they shot.

It happens nearly every day in America. It’s just weak and pathetic.

Speaking as someone who has received an Australian Bravery Decoration, I imagine he will be nominated for a Cross of Valour.
Give him a Logie, Brownlow, Daly M, and Australian of the year as well

Nobody is celebrating it.

We knew this was coming while you called us racist for doing so. Take your head out of the sand.
Seems that you need to be reminded that the largest massacre committed by an Australian in living memory was committed by a white nationalist with anti-immigrant and white supremacist beliefs.

That massacre was committed in March 2019 at two mosques in Christchurch killing 51 people and injuring 89 others. He was captured by NZ police as he was driving to a third mosque to commit more mass murders.

That white Australian terrorist was Brenton Tarrant, who investigations revealed was motivated by white nationalism, anti-immigrant sentiment, and white supremacist beliefs. Tarrant described himself as an ecofascist and professed belief in the far-right "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory in the context of a "white genocide", cited Anders Behring Breivik and Dylann Roof as well as several other right-wing terrorists as inspirations within his manifesto.

In the aftermath of the Christchurch attack Tarrant was quickly ‘sainted’ by militant accelerationist subcultures online, who depicted him in visual propaganda as a Christian saint 'doing God's work'.

That terrorist attack, like the one in Bondi today, was motivated by racially motivated ignorance and hatred. The very things that Pauline Hanson and other political extremists like her use as their populist platform.

So no more lectures from you about what 'you' and your fellow right wing extremists 'knew was coming'. You and they are very much part of the problem.

The problem is not Islam…. The problem is jihadism.
The problem is religion. Gaza, Northern Ireland, Syria, Sudan there's barely conflict in the world without people fighting over or more commonly having their whole whose fairy tale they believe more subverted to sinister ends. We should stop indulging all of these these fantasies.

Hmm, the "anti-zionists" are very quiet in this thread, I wonder why?

This is what anyone who supported Israel was saying would happen, and shock horror, look what has happened!
Yep conspicuous by their absence. Dont see too many of those posters with Palestine flags in their profile. They will be back to spew their hate down the track.
