House of Guinness on netflix. Not bad.

One Battle After Another at the movies. Worth a watch. Sean Penn was very good. Leo was Leo, good but not great as everyone seems to be raving about.

October is such a good month for quality productions.

All the favs return:

Blue Lights (Season 3) SBS 9:25pm Thursday nights. This season even better IMHO than season 2. Been very good.

Only Murders in the Building (season 5) on Disney. The whose who of Hollywood appear in this show.

Slow Horses (season 5 [I think]). This show is anything but slow. Such an eclectic group of characters. I love how they keep foisting alcohol on the recovering alcoholic and her look of loving desire and disgust at the same time. Its the little things that make this show so good.

and

Starting 7 November on Foxtel showcase will be "All Her Fault" starring Sarah Snook. Set in Chicago, USA but shot mainly here in Melbourne.

Haven't been watching a lot of TV lately, but two shows have come up that may be worth a look.

1. The Recruit Season 2 (Netflix) - Released earlier in the year. CIA Lawyer gets caught up in field work. Hard to work out if the lead is a hero or just a f*wit. Still worth a look.

2. Robin Hood season 1 (MGM+) - Stars Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Begins when Robert of Locksley is a boy and the family home has been given to a Norman shitbag. Shows a little bit of Saxon T**ty at the start to get everyone interested. Really like Sean Bean. Very subdued and thoughtful in his roles. I would say this is just another Robin Hood story, but I can see there is a bit of Saxon Mythology built in to make it more of an Origin story, rather than the usual Robin loves Marion tripe.

Comment - Netflix is currently valued at $463B. How the **** do they justify continually raising subscription costs?

I watched "Top End Wedding" - which was partly filmed in the Tiwi Islands - yesterday, and it featured a snippet of the Hawks v Magpies game of round 1 2018. The movie was filmed in May 2018, and Cyril gets a thankyou in the credits. It's a nice movie, a rom-com with a Territory twist.

Enjoyed Blue Lights as well. Dept Q and North Shore are also very good if you enjoy that genre.
Have watched Dept Q and agree it was very good. Will have to watch North Shore now 👍

Really enjoyed Black Rabbit, not perfect and definitely could've been better but Jude Law and Bateman are seriously good at most things they do.

I started watching it but just couldn’t stick with it

Has anyone seen Sam pang tonight and in particular watching it right now? I always saw it advertised, watching it for the first time tonight I can't believe how bad it is and how anyone enjoys it. Im in disbelief, why I'm posting this haha.

For those who remember the Spartacus series, the most vile, obnoxious S.O.B. would have to have been the treacherous Asher.

So now there is a new series - Spartacus: House of Asher. Starz/Prime

In this, and I have only seen a trailer, as I am not certain I want to watch, Asher wakes up in a pit of skulls and faces Lucretia holding a baby. The conversation describes changes to the real timeline where Asher actually spears Spartacus in the back, saving the life of Crassus thus earning patronage to take over the ludus left behind by Batiatus.

The question I have is why the f*&k would they make a new series focussed on the villain, killed off in the final series, let alone make him out to be some sort of hero?

The odd thing is that, according to IMDB, Asher only appears in two of the 13 episodes. Weird.

As I said, I am note sure I want to watch, although I really did enjoy the original series.

But I really f^&kin' hate alternate reality shit. (yeah, yeah it is only a story, but once the original airs, that is the only reality that matters) Same, same for all the alternate spidermen.

I think they thought "whats a popular semi recent tv show of the past that we haven't shamelessly tried to create a money grab/spin off of yet? Spartacus hasn't been done yet? That's right! That's our cash cow...I mean show!

Apropos of nothing...

House of the Dragon is ****ing shit, and so is Rings of Power...

I don't think they're even screening at the moment, and I certainly haven't seen one in over a year...but my mind just back to when I last watched either, and a compulsion to vent came over me...

that is all...

I was never captured by the Game of Thrones craze, so I haven't watched House of the Dragon, either.

I am a massive Tolkien nerd, but absolutely despise what Amazon has done with Rings of Power. I watched the first season and lasted precisely one episode into season 2. I'll never finish that series.

I seem to greatly enjoy a lot of Vince Gilligan's work, stretching back to the time he worked on The X-Files under Chris Carter. Gilligan, of course, conceived of and ran Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. AppleTV won the bidding war between the studios to bring his latest series to us, and I've been hooked on Pluribus since it launched a couple of months ago. It's not fast-paced, but every episode is extremely well written and generally well acted. The season finale comes out this week.

Since I started watching Pluribus, I've also started watching Severance on AppleTV. It's a little discordant watching Severance at the moment, as my oldest child and I are watching Parks and Recreation, and one of the stars on Parks & Rec is the lead in Severance, playing similar but also extremely different characters.

I got through most of season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, but stopped watching when it finally dawned on me that Daryl Dixon and Carol have plot armour miles thick. Same with The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (unfortunately for my interest in the latter, the producers killed off the only interesting character in the show pretty early in the show, so I've lost interest in both shows - I'll probably finish them when I have nothing else to watch).

I wasn't a super fan by any stretch nor had I read the books, but game of thrones for a while there was must watch tv. Then towards the end it got progressively shitter and I didn't even bother watching the last season. House of the dragon is pretty bog average. I might give that Vince Gilligan new series a look...

Mr inbetween for anyone that hasn't seen it yet is a great show yet to see any negative views on it. I just finished the whole season of ghosts (the Australian version). I rate it, the first couple of episodes arnt that good but after that I think great and definitely worth watching.
