With Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon all probably out injured and closer to the end of their careers than the beginning, I wonder if we may not see the fab 4 bowling together in a test again?

Although Neser deserves to be called up, we also need to start blooding some younger bowlers who may be our future.

Fergus O’Neil has an outstanding shield record … 150 odd wickets at 20.

Not express pace, but he’s highly skilled and at 24 years of age, surely he starts to be talked about soon.

Agree with all of this. So who are the options to take over from the fab 4 (+ Boland who unfortunately is closer to the end than start given his age).

Doggett seems to be a good team man. Particularly impressed with how he sacrificed his own game to bowl the short stuff under instruction from Smith. However, he didn't look overly threatening to the specialist bats and his wickets were mainly tail enders. Ultimately, might end up being the 3rd / 4th seamer.

Richardson can bowl fast and moves the ball but has struggled with fitness. If he's ready to bowl long spells, I'd like to see him come in soon.

I like Fergus O'Neil from Victoria. Tall, hits the deck hard and has a FC avg of 20.

Of the spinners, I like the look of Rocchiccioli. He's a big turner, gets bounce and manages to take wickets playing out of WA, no mean feat.

Head, Carey and Starc - brilliant series. And Cummins a good game.

The rest - not so much.

Victory is sweet, even if we did try our best to give the poms a chance in this one.

Kuhnemann has played 3 shield matches since the tour of India, and Swepson has a bowling average that would make for a good batting average.
As Rocchi plays often in Perth on less-responsive decks then i would say that puts him in front. Unless they choose Webster who bowls part time spin as well as the rest of his attributes.

I saw Murphy play before he played a test and told friends that he was the heir apparent. I also said the same about Lyon when he had only played a game or two for SA.
Unfortunately, I don't think Murphy has come on as well as I hoped. That's not to say he won't, but I probably expected too much.

Boland tightened things up in a crucial second innings spell. Helped Starc at the other end. Fitting he was the one who got the last wicket.

Unfortunately, I don't think Murphy has come on as well as I hoped. That's not to say he won't, but I probably expected too much.

Murphy had his worst year last year but has bounced back this season , maybe getting dropped for a part time spinner in Ceylon maybe dented his confidence

McGill would have been a great spinner for Australia but for Warnie.
Warnie was the best ever spinner in the world(arguably).
McGill just waiting in the wings forever.
Just like Boland. Boland is a test bowler. But cannot make the side. Like McGill.

Warne had the cricket brain and the cunning, but McGill could spin the ball on glass. Had a better wrong-un as well.
Warne the superior player, but if there was no Warne we would be singing McGill's praises.

He is so accurate. He just dries up the runs and gives a batsman nothing to hit.
I remember one over they replayed every ball last year. He virtually hit the same spot on the pitch for 6 balls.
That is impossible for a human being at that pace.
