Cummings pretty much ruled himself out

With Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon all probably out injured and closer to the end of their careers than the beginning, I wonder if we may not see the fab 4 bowling together in a test again?
Although Neser deserves to be called up, we also need to start blooding some younger bowlers who may be our future.
Agree with all of this. So who are the options to take over from the fab 4 (+ Boland who unfortunately is closer to the end than start given his age). With Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon all probably out injured and closer to the end of their careers than the beginning, I wonder if we may not see the fab 4 bowling together in a test again?

Boland gave them nothing both inningsHead, Carey and Starc - brilliant series. And Cummins a good game.
The rest - not so much.
Victory is sweet, even if we did try our best to give the poms a chance in this one.
I would have thought Murphy as well, but he's done nothing for the last 18 months. For Boxing Day:
Out: Cummins, Lyon, Inglis
In: Neser, Smith, Murphy or Kuhnemann
Have a better look doss pleaseI would have thought Murphy as well, but he's done nothing for the last 18 months.
Last 6 shield matches:Have a better look doss please
Murphy is proven and was the 1st choice for Aussie A , the Rocc goes okay thoughLast 6 shield matches:
Murphy 13 @ 28
Rocchiccioli 20 @ 28
Kuhnemann has played 3 shield matches since the tour of India, and Swepson has a bowling average that would make for a good batting average.
As Rocchi plays often in Perth on less-responsive decks then i would say that puts him in front. Unless they choose Webster who bowls part time spin as well as the rest of his attributes.
I saw Murphy play before he played a test and told friends that he was the heir apparent. I also said the same about Lyon when he had only played a game or two for SA.Murphy is proven and was the 1st choice for Aussie A , the Rocc goes okay though
Boland tightened things up in a crucial second innings spell. Helped Starc at the other end. Fitting he was the one who got the last wicket.Boland gave them nothing both innings
Murphy had his worst year last year but has bounced back this season , maybe getting dropped for a part time spinner in Ceylon maybe dented his confidenceI saw Murphy play before he played a test and told friends that he was the heir apparent. I also said the same about Lyon when he had only played a game or two for SA.
Unfortunately, I don't think Murphy has come on as well as I hoped. That's not to say he won't, but I probably expected too much.

MacGill please don't put the rat next to WarnieMurphy is pretty limited - bowls flat & although he turns it a bit, doesn't have a bag of tricks.
Personally, I think Rocchiccioli is the way to go - as you noted, he bowls on the least spin-friendly wicket in Australia & still performs well. He's no world beater, but then again, in a post Warne/MacGill world, who is?
MacGill please don't put the rat next to Warnie
McGill would have been a great spinner for Australia but for Warnie.Unreasonable.
MacGill is a flawed character, but was an exceptional leg spinner.
His record is in some respects superior to Warnie - especially when they both played in the same side.
When they played in the same team , Warnie was the man and they went for the flawed one .Never in the same sentenceUnreasonable.

Warne had the cricket brain and the cunning, but McGill could spin the ball on glass. Had a better wrong-un as well. When they played in the same team , Warnie was the man and they went for the flawed one .Never in the same sentence
He is so accurate. He just dries up the runs and gives a batsman nothing to hit.Boland tightened things up in a crucial second innings spell. Helped Starc at the other end. Fitting he was the one who got the last wicket.
Deserves his chance.Murphy in squad
