#1 overall seems like a poison pill again....or is that most of the first rounders end up a disappointment?

Mojave Riders season review and 2026 preview....

Shit roster, with just a few guns, who ended up a letdown — joe mixon mysteriously out all year, jared verse and kobie turner underperforming early, jayden daniels humdrum season before the injury, only bucky irving.

No guns at RWT which is key in any league, a roster full of "sleeper" rookies who in the end seldom got playing time until right near the end of the season.

I had to trade assets for future picks and better positioned rookies and fringe players.

In the end, ending up with guys like abdul carter, kyle monangai (who i didnt even like), brian thomas, jihad campbell, jalen milroe....theres some hope for the next season, as well as waiver acquiring some others that imo could break out next season also enthuses me.

The main takeaway again tho for me is the extremely bad salary management. Yet again i keep setting a new record for dead cap (this season $70m).

The silver lining is that I'll have around 50-60m in available cap for auction waivers — if i can better isolate those handful of FAs that can upgrade my roster at the core starting positions.

Basically, i have to be much better at that, discriminatijg, and not just acquiring a ton that i only end up releasing (for reasons).

Not a full rebuild needed, i feel like a more astute approach to auction waivers and holding 20+m in cap for the start of regular season (for new breakout players available in waivers) is key for 2026 success. I don't think a division title or playoff berth or even a playoff run is out of the question for the Riders in 2026.

I guess trades can often depend on what a person sees value in at the time. To me at that time, maybe i thought get more picks and a player at the time i thought on the rise...a trade back type thing. Whereas maybe the ADP and Tuanami trades i did this season, i was like losing confidence in players that had value and would rather trade them for pucks and players i have more confidence in or like more. Or, maybe one has depth at DE, say, but lacking at WR, so trades a gun DE for a couple fringe WRs and a 2nd rounder, say.

Horses for courses. It'snot a vacuum at the time.

Yeah, I traded CeeDee for your and SAMCROs 1st, which looks fn genius atm given where I finished without him.

BUT i was trying to trade one or more of my fiists mid-season for an elite WR, which didn't end up happening .

Not cos I thought it was a poison pill, but I was confident I was a tier 1 WR away from another championship (at the time, AJ Brown was struggling, Diggs is pretty much finished too, they both came on late thankfully). Parker Washington too boom or bust to pick regularly too.

Ended up getting Jameson Williams who gets occasional tier 1 numbers which I was happy enough with, but not exactly what i was after, but at least I keptmy 1sts.

I'm not averse to trading it, i've kind of got an idea on where im going with the picks already, but the right trade could change my mind.

I am planning to reset my top end to limit the overlap of contracts EOY, keep in touch

**** Jameson, plus he was frustrating, the type who often gets 1 catch for 10 yards for three games before getting 6 for 90 and a TD. I, like everyone else, would rather trade those players for an Armon Ra St Brown type instead

Of course, a great number 4/5, IR traded him away before he exploded at the tail end (am I talking about Jameson or IR, who knows…)

I still i did alright with my trades.
Verse is a DE version of Jameson. Kobie Turner same, like all DTs not named Quinnen Williams. Tho i repeased him didnt rrade him. Irving gone but Monangiai pointing up. Jameson gone, got Brian Thomas who has the upside to bounce back as a #1. Daniels out, and if Ewers ends up being the starter in 2026 was a good late flyer, tho i probably still need another #1 RB, WR and a starting QB, and some LB help as the rest of my IDPs are solid. Oh, and I also got Abdul Carter and Harold Fannin so hard to slam me for my trades...nowhere near the old Alpha days.
