I didn’t say his form in that series was bad, I’m not even saying Webster was better. But that series has been vastly overrated and is not good enough to make up for the rest of his 18 months.

Again I’ve defended Green his entire career. I think he’s going to be a player going forward, I think picking a player in spite of poor form constantly isn’t helping him or the team.

I think Green's dual 40s on a deck that nobody could score runs on in the most recent test is notable enough that when combined with Webster's poor shield form it matters.

Pro Webster's arguments would be able to hang their hat on a lot more if he'd just managed to get a 50 in his 4 shield innings - even in poor form otherwise (averaging 20 or whatever) - to the start the season, but he couldn't even manage that.
