Not a Hawk, but Greg Williams was the best distributor of the ball from stoppages/congestion that i have seen play.
Nobody comes close.
I would take Maurice Rioli every day of the week, over the filthy scum bag that Williams was.

Was thinking the same thing myself.

In terms of pure distributors of the ball from a contest it's Greg Williams first, then Sam Mitchell second and daylight third.

Very similar players in a lot of ways Williams and Mitchell. Short, not quick by foot but with minds that were running that fraction quicker than everyone else on the field and ultra tough campaigners as well.

I think Simon Black was at least equal to Mitchell. Just a rolled gold gun.

Probably curtains for his career. Hasn't really done too much at the Eagles in any case. Shame as he was such a bright talent for us in a dreary time.

I had posted this yesterday but looks like it got deleted, along with some other posts, as part of the (software?) upgrade on the forum.

Thought I'd re-post it as it's an excellent article:

Absolutely terrible news to hear as this young man was really just starting out his life.

Without knowing the exact details of what has happened it’s hard not to notice the Lifeline links that accompany certain articles but if it is what those links seem to be pointing to then you can’t help but feel that the AFL need to do more for their former employees.

So many kids get chewed up and spat out of the AFL system and then struggle to find a purpose in life after the realisation that they’ve been told that they’re not good enough to live the dream they grew up chasing. Maybe the AFL should put more funding into to their players transitioning out of the game than silly things like AFL X and the ridiculous number of other fads over the years.

Just one of the many reasons it’s so important that we here on BigFooty choose our words wisely when we critique players becasue as we’ve seen time and time again a lot of them and their families have been on our board.

Really do feel for this kids family and friends as I’m sure it will be an impossible hole to fill. RIP young man.

That first comment though.

So true.
You can be critical of players, but also, be human. It's the only thing we've all got in common.

I hope his family have the support they need.

I never actually saw anything at all in Brockman.
But that’s just my personal opinion

No one feel afraid to speak, not saying it’s that. Hope it isn’t, but can’t be surprised if that were the case. Not weak to speak and everyone has an outlet for someone to speak to, happy to put my hand up. Open to anyone in my DMs who need a conversation about anything. You’re not alone and we all appreciate you ❤️

Clubs do have a career advisor, it isnt mandatory for players to see them though

Sad occurrence Either way but I just saw an article that has his family wanting to acknowledge that he didn’t take his own life.

One of my son's Xmas presents was a Hawthorn calendar. He quickly noticed that a Melbourne player snuck in for the month of June. Good luck to CJ at his new club. :thumbsu:

Guessing the printing press can't wait till after the trade period.

I guess neither of our AA’s were good enough to make the calendar lol

Not if you take into account what he was paid. If he weren't in that ridiculously salary assisted Lions side he would have taken someone else out of the side due to salary cap issues. Mitchell accepted unders to keep his side together.

Never knew about this. Extra 500k a season on top of a 6mil salary cap. Wonder what their list would’ve looked like without it
