Because our batsman aren’t ruthless. Sure Carse bowls some good balls here and there but most of his wickets have been from dumb shots. No one other than Head and Smith (and Carey for most of the series) actually want to finish their work. Get 20 or 30 and its job done

Our bowling has been quite good, Starc in career best form, Carey in career best form, head in career best form. Some of the batters have struggled but there’s also been a few landmine pitches which were very hard to survive on

England's 2010/11 side had a batting line-up of Cook, Strauss, Pietersen, Trott, Bell, Collingwood and Prior, and a bowling attack of Broad, Anderson and Swann. Laughable to suggest that this current line-up is even in the same stratosphere.

Not the Ashes, but the Australian side that hosted India in 2018/19 had Finch and Harris as openers.
