Why is everyone off Maric? He is pretty settled here with Karl Langdons daughter and he is improving game by game? I’ve seen a few suggestions of trading him?
Not sure, but imagine Karl Langdon as a father in law?

Also not sure we have a need for Neale now. Has a great pedigree, but we have sufficient traded seniors now, and exponential growth in our juniors this preseason, let's move forward with our youth.

Freo should be going gang busters for Neale. He will cost nothing, and only needs to play 15 more games for his children to qualify as a father son (assuming the rules stay the same).
That's actually pretty clever, especially with the change to the sub rule

With the way he gets around thats potentially going to be a bumper crop too!

Lol - no way would I want someone who's just missed two years of football with whatever issues he has. I think it's more like career over if he can't get back on the field.
Look at our small forward stocks, we can 100% afford to take a chance on a former NS medal winner.

When the alternative is Owies and Brockman, you are taking Hill every day of the week

Would be cheap too with his time missed

Regarding forward stocks we might also rotate Yeo, Hewett and Baker through there.
Baker could be a forward, certainly brings pressure, kicks goals.
Not sure why everyone is so quick to write off the Champion/Williams/Long trio from sorting the problem out. I dont really have any issue with our small forward stocks because you got 3 guys ready for a chance.

For sure we do, its a matter of if they take their chance to replace Cripps and Brockman this year.
The positions will be VERY much up for grabs.

But I can see our smaller forwards made up of Hewett HF rotating mid, Kelly HF, Baker SF, Newton SF, Gross HF.

The next in line will be Long/Owies/Champion/T Williams.

2026 presents an opportunity for several with Cripps & Brockman not going on past 2026 imo.

Owies/Long will need breakout years or they will be relegated to WAFL/Owies and Long/delist.

Our SF/HF stocks are just ok if we kick out Brockman/Cripps/Long/Owies.

Kelly will be delegated to HF and rotating mid when needed but really only has another year or so of serviceable footy.
I have more faith in Yeo playing a HF/SF role away from the midfield than I do Kelly but 2026 will be a massive year for both.
This is why I see our SF stocks as needing another 2 X factor SF options very soon.
That maybe McGlade or another NGA this draft but they are still several years away from full time players.

This is also why I believe we need another high end midfielder in 2026, because the likely hood of every one making a full time mid are 50/50.

Newton/Gross/S Allen/maybe Rodriguez are probably a group that will be HF/SF options going forward as our midfield gets stronger and more quality.

Not writing them off at all, they just haven't written themselves in yet?
It's great to have that depth though and someone's bound to rise up and grab the chance.
Meanwhile Baker is very adaptable and would be an absolute terrier up front.
You've got Newton and Gross as possibilities.
Yeo might rotate from mid to back with Starcevich, or mid to forward with Kelly or Hewett. We have more options than last year.
Agree with WCE777, more faith in Yeo forward than Kelly. He has more class, and a competitive bull.

I think we’d miss Baker’s tenacity if we moved him forward. He’d give it a crack but it wouldn’t be a good move for either party imo.

Newton should get a good chance this season. Sounds like we’ve really rated him.
