Premiership sides who drank their own bath water?

Richmond 10/39 finals appearances since 1987 to our 25/39 when WC joined the party. 5 spoons to our now 3. 2 & 3/4 premierships to our 4. Even at our absolute worst (now) i still know what history i'd rather take. We still have 7 - 8 games on you in the head to head category aswell.

Well done on adding to our shame last night though, cudos.
Gonna be a long long time until West Coast get close to finals again, the new Carlton

Not to mention another 34 grand final appearances.

Set the record straight only justice to see Collingwood get to 17 first
I wonder if there's some weird 16 flag curse, like sides just can't get past that. 30 and 25 year droughts respectively for the sides on 16. Collingwood still could, but it's not looking good.

I dont think anyone will ever make it to flag 17 pies are having a crack but really its going to take another generation to see flag 17

2018 Eagles though. But oh boy. Litres of bathwater was drunk. Fell off an absolute cliff after glugging so hard.
Yep they’d have to be the biggest abusers of bath water ever ,considering where the club as whole is positioned now and for the medium /long term future moving fwd

Most losses in a season ever and outside expansionist GWS only 1 win season.

all well short of not even a decade after the flag(2 wins in 22’ merely 4 years after 😳)

Wasn’t just the players tho.
Every single person from the president to the boot studder got a skin ful of it.

And considering some of the list management moves recently seems powerstance pykey and mad Matty have found another couple bottles in the back Fridge!!

The rot started when they were defeated by the rising Lions round 1 '19.

Collingwood 1990 drinking up until 2010 but i think things were drying up come 1996
Pies 1990-1999 kind of a never ending celebrations
But methinks Pies 2024 but if they dont win it in 2025 then its enough for a total rebuild and sack everyone at the collingwood club.
I think if pies dont win the flag this year its enough to destroy the club for 10 year thats what i think

Probably said that in say 2019 when Buckley was still coaching us.

I echoed alot of other Pies fans at the time.

Most frustrating time as a Pies were those days then add on another 2 years of covid pandemic.

Felt a lot comfy in 2022 when we actually got some credible people in the club like McRae Leppa etc....

Nowadays everything's looking more Rosey nowadays down Pie land.

Kind of like our future now.

About those 4 seasons after those 4 eagles flags.

1993: started that season well winning 5 of the 1st 6 games. Lost the last 2 games including a loss to cats in Perth, who narrowly misses out on finals in a top 6 finals system.

1995: Solid, not great but easily made finals. 5th with 14 wins and 8 losses. Went out in straight sets.

2007 : missed out on top 2. Had a 7 goal lead in the final quarter vs Essendon. Had they kept that 7 goal lead, they finish 2nd. That means Port vs eagles in Perth. Eagles narrowly lose to Port in that qualifying final. Had they won, they get a 2 week break, beat North in the prelim final and face the cats in the grand final.

2019: looked ok until late in the season. Eagles lost to tigers by 6 points at the MCG. That knocked the wind out of eagles and they lose to hawks in Perth the next week and end up 5th with 15 wins.

Had the eagles beat tigers, they are top. Different mindset and different energy in the final round vs the hawks. Eagles beat hawks, that means top with 17 wins
Hutchings getting injured vs Richmond cost them. He took Martin out of the game in the 1st qtr.

Eagles had their chances in all but 1995 imo.

Hearing about the Eagles constantly harping about losing a couple of great players for part of a final in 2007, makes me wonder how we only beat them by 15 goals earlier that season.

Then how did you beat them by only 3 with Judd on one leg and Cousins doing his hami? You would have lost if Cousins stays on. And that's with Judd on one leg playing at FF.

a fully fit West Coast hammers you in that game. Amd on that 15 goal loss, they were also missing several.

Picking Judd on one leg was a deliberate selection decision. Who still kicked 2 goals in the third in a very low scoring game, so do we take away that impact?
And Cousins went off at 3qt with barely a dozen touches (Kane Cornes had him tied up with a bow) with the score only a goal the difference.

Yeah, hammers us, sure. Historical revisionism.
