I have a vague recollection of him running through traffic at high speed from the back half getting around opposition players.

Seems the kind of guy a GWS usually draft for that high half forward role.
Was about to post similar. Very excited about him, if he can show some composure with ball usage I think we might have a handy little player.

We have tried Oskar Smart, Ned Cahill types. Even Jade Gresham.

Neat players but lacked spark and the ability to make things happen

Unwin has that physical edge. Love the way he moves

Yep, he is my nominee for breakout player.

Reminds me of a Bewick/Richards (Bulldogs) type player.

Very exciting, has x factor we lack.

The best thing about the sharpe pick is that because Melbourne weren’t interested we get to take pot shots at the hawks for trading that pick to Carlton in hopes of getting Zerrett

Edit: nevermind he was 100% a don if he fell past WC and Richmond
Melbourne have given us the 'death ride' of 2025 giving us pick 10 overall to them passing on Sharp. It's like manna from heaven dealing with them on trade!

Went down to have a look at training today.
It was a light session with skills/ technique focus.
First thing to note was no Brad Scott and Dean Solomon looked to have the reigns.
Solly has an air of authority that the other assistants do not have.
I must say Varcoe and Rohan seemed to have built strong relationships already.
My player observations.
Archer Day Wicks looked very good. Fast and more developed body. Strong tackling and evasiveness.
Bourke has some outstanding lateral movement. Is a strong lad as well. Disappointing he looked to do a serious hammy.
Angus Clarke is the energizer bunny of the group. Pup is an extrovert and very popular. Trained with the talls and struggled against bigger opposition but continued to compete. Looks to have built a friendship with Dyson Sharp as a carry on from carnival days. Got a fair bit of individualised coaching from Solly.
Sharp is doing full training loads and looks at the level.kicking is better than you think and has a strong body. Another extrovert who looks like he is having the time of his life.
El-Hawli stood out. Speed has always been there but looked terrific in endurance running. Kick is very neat and he has some steps and X factor. Could see him playing in the forward half.
Nate Caddy is athletically gifted. Has speed and athleticism and defenders struggled to keep up with him. He could be anything.
Kyle Langford has trimmed right down. I feel he looked treacle slow last year but looks to have found a bit of athleticism.
Ben McKay is a big unit. He was moving well and just stronger than everyone.
Jade Gresham has got into seriously good nick. Has trimmed right down and was moving very well. Did not stand out in drills but I reckon he has put the work in.
Jacob Farrow has serious kicking skills. Has a nice frame but obviously lacks some strength but like Sharp did everything and not out of his depth.
Elijah Tsatas was solid in all drills. But what pleased me was he was talking more than I have seen him and looked genuinely happy. Maybe he is putting less pressure on himself.
Archie May was solid and is a competitor. Perhaps lacks a bit of speed off the mark?
Kaylyn Gerryn has a lot of ability. He is very clean below his knees and has marking and kicking ability. Got down on himself when beaten in one on ones. The big Gerry can lacks some confidence in himself I reckon.
Durham, Fiorini, Merrett, Caldwell, Duursma, Wright and Roberts all professional and looked to be the leaders out there.
Kako was terrific and another extrovert in the group. Speed and skills very good. Obviously close to Huss who looked a bit off the pace on occasions. Kako was the only player who went to the supporters after training and he is clearly the most popular amongst the kids.
Unwin has a great step and glides over the ground. Lacks body strength.
Johnson has also trimmed down. He got cleaned up by Day- Wicks which shook him up a bit.
Blakiston looked the pick of the rucks for mine but Bryan looks like he is progressing well. Visentini has a good leap.
Reid did everything but looked to be operating at 75%.
McMahon was beaten too often when in the talls group and will really struggle for mine.
Kondo is a better athlete than I expected but body strength will be a priority for him.
Nguyen is honest and hard at it but lack of size found him out a few times.
Perkins did some of the running but not involved in all drills. He barely interacts with teammates.
McGrath, Redman, Ridley, Parish, Guelfi, Cox, Jones and Prior were either not on the track or in a limited capacity.
Happy new year everyone

Perkins barely interracts with team mates.
Impostor syndrome impacts confidence and sense of belonging.
These are two statements that may or may not be connected.
I don’t go to training anywhere near as often as some of our fine posters here but I thought training was louder than I have heard it previously.
Caddy, Clarke, Kako, Sharp, El Aktar, Johnson and Farrow all seem to be extroverts to me which I think is a good thing.

i like that these young kids have an air of swagger, almost arrogance about them. The very best teams have this and we have barely raised a hand for our team mates

The self proclaimed loosest campaigner in Portsea didn't previously seem like the quiet type, we've probably broken him

You can throw in Redman, McGrath and even Cox from what I have seen so far. Seems to be a good vibe. Have seen Redman thanking the supporters for coming out a few times and getting in a few selfies with a few fans.
As far as Perkins goes, he was pretty chatty on Saturday.

Danger of going once.
You can only report on what you see.
I am on holidays and live fairly close so I intend on attending regularly from next week.

Match sim this morning. Report on Blitz that Caddy off with injured ankle.

ifc hello darkness my old friend GIF

Good to hear Caddy is fine.

few positional changes in match sims.
  • Langford playing Perkins High half forward role
  • Prior playing Wing (looked good), but all I can think of is Scott playing Kelly there :)
  • McGrath half back
  • TSatas defensive midfielder
  • Farrow Mid
