Does any one know what political party is Chris McDermott about the join?

Federal or state?

I have this sick feeling it will be federal with One Nation with Pauline Hanson.

He is running in Dunstan (State seat based around Norwood) for the Fair Go for Australians party.

Was... he's already pulled out.

Now running in Legislative Council.

No idea what the party stand for, but leader ex One Nation.

It's quite OK for you to wonder here, but you should wander next door for Yankee stuff.
I know I should care, but I just don’t care about homophones. Not directing this at you, and just making a general statement but anyone who gets upperty over a word, don’t take everything so serious.

Too many people are getting angry in how they respond. Let’s just chill out.

With housing being the biggest driver of CPI, how does raising interest rates reduce the biggest driver of CPI??

Won't investors just up their rent to cover the rates hike both domestic and commercial rents?

And the commercial operators up their prices to cover their increased rent?
It doesn't ....and you're correct, Landlords have to pass on any cost increases

There's been a truckload of bureaucracy added to Landlords over recent years, in addition to rate hikes ..... TBF, some of the regulations were required for unscrupulous Landlords .....but the costs have been significant

Many Landlords have opted to sell their investment properties ....as the only advantage now is asset growth

However, we now have a Govt increase in petrol excise ....what a crazy thing to do, when you're trying to rain in inflation ......or is the budget deficit that out of hand, they're giving that priority over inflation

These are crazy time .....both sides of Govt are amateurs

Who's angry? I was just amused.

Increase in petrol excise has been going up every February and August for the last 10 years under both governments.

Ok, missed that.

How the hell do you just change parties like that?
Bone didn't change parties.

Or are you talking about Game?

Because it's mandated ? .....or simply a Govt cash grab

They're charging $14 for a one-way trip thru the new Westgate Tunnel .....all these on-road costs are getting beyond the pale

Talking about Game.

Can’t keep up with all these minor parties.

Might start up “I don’t want to do with morons party”.
I wouldn't want to be associated with anyone who has been One Nation...

There must be some sane ones... surely?

Jacqui Lambie started off with the Palmer United Party, and she turned out to be a surprisingly good senator once she left the corrups/fraudster/thief behind her. There must be some sane equivalent of Lambie in the Odd Notion Party... surely?

That is owned and operated jointly by Vic Government and Transurban is it not?

So you think that stuff should be built only by government? If you did that the city would grind to a halt with traffic congestion etc.

The petrol excise is mandated in legislation.

I have no opinion on that ....it was merely a comparative comment on extra costs being imposed on drivers

Gee.. well **** me, I’m sorry George.. Here I was thinking we were talking about the reserve bank lifting rates and why its done..

The reserve bank lifting rates to slow consumer spending has less to do with stopping the government spending. Governments tend to borrow money to pay for services and infrastructure regardless of the current interest rates..

If you want to discuss government spending and waste.. tell us all what things you dont want the government to stop spending money on and exactly how much it will save…

Go on.. list them all one by one and give us the reasons why you feel they are wasteful expenditures..
Gees you can be a real Wally.

We are discussing the RBA increasing interest rates to curb inflation. Your blaming consumers for inflation, whereas economists are citing government spending as a key factor.

I’m not going to fulfil your stupid request of listing government wasteful expenditure, clearly you must think all their spending is valid.

Commonwealth Bank says the 'game has changed' as Aussie borrowers issued warning
Not raising the official cash rate this week would amount to 'playing with fire', the Commonwealth Bank's chief economist warns.

Private domestic demand growth has picked up a little more rapidly than previously forecast …household income and wealth are increasingly supportive of stronger consumption," RBA Deputy Governor Andrew Hauser said in a November speech.

That trend coupled with continued government spending means price increases likely won't moderate in the immediate future. And things could arguably spiral.

Grim Jim Chalmers and his equally incompetent mate Bowen away with the fairies again. Their EV take-up strategy not meeting there expectations obviously. I wonder why?

What a joke!!

Labor turns to cheap loans to shore up electric vehicle demand as budgets tighten
The Albanese government has struck a deal to slash borrowing costs for electric vehicles as it scrambles to meet ambitious climate targets.
Taxpayers shopping for a new electric vehicle will be offered a $1900 sweetener, under the Albanese government’s latest bid to boost uptake and align motorists with Labor’s ambitious climate targets.

Bahahaha…

So.. you want to argue that its “wasteful government spending” that is to blame for inflation and thus possible increases in interest rates.
but you cant be bothered naming what that government spending is, how its wasteful and how much reducing it would effect the inflation rate!

You just want to come in here and parrot the bullshit you see and read on the pages of conservative sites like the AFR, skynews, newscorp etc and do so unquestioned and without having to back it up with anything of substance.

**** me.. and you call others “wally’s”!..

Is it too much to ask you to back your claims up with some substance?

So.. I will ask again.
Which government services, infrastructure builds and expenditures would you cut and how much would doing so reduce the inflation rate George?

I just had a look and it's exactly what you'd expect.

I'm a mother... all that family stuff, that's good. A few achievements, those seem to be good things. Scroll down further, abolish the voice, schools are teaching our kids left wing things, cost of living is because of green energy, etc

Not sure why she left One Nation, TBH.
