Not sure the players out there agree - we haven't seen one of them take a backward step yet

Besides, we've seen a couple of ACLs during team training sessions and intra-club matches over recent weeks, as well as some pretty serious other injuries at training which will keep players out for extended periods of time

Injuries can happen be it at training, during a match or playing SoO

They have to train, they dont have to play SoO, what a stupid argument.

Don't get the hate, it's a game of footy featuring the best players in the AFL, and it's good to see players from all different clubs play alongside each other.

Think the players are really enjoying being out there and are having a fair crack.

Watching the way the players have attacked the contest, I think they'll be giving this a thumbs up - be it an annual thing or maybe every second year

If there was no intent being shown and it was a nothing more than a glorified exhibition match, that's more likely to signal the end of the concept

The heat is definitely in it.

Injury will have the clubs nervous but they should back it (players can get injured at training for goodness sake) its nice to see the players want it. If the fans jump on board hopefully it can be more regular.

Hugh McCluggage is one player i'd love at the Cats.

It's not a stupid argument. If you were concerned about injuries you wouldnt let clubs do full on intra clubs or play the aami series games you would bin them too. This is no more injury risk than that-so if you aren't getting rid of one you shouldn't get rid of the other. Half the players go overseas in the offseason for gods sake in parts of the world that are dangerous. You cant cotton wool the players.

Stewart looks like he hasn't lost his touch hes still intercepting well. Merrett daicos and richards killing it. Love butters niggle and attitude would love him here.
Max is getting to all the right spots but his kicking is like the GF.

Our mids still bombing to a direction. Wish Stewart’s run as a midfielder lasted, he could have showed them how to hit a target

Stewart would be great as a midfielder his decision making is elite. But I dont think he has the endurance for it at his age.

It is a stupid argument, one is a lead in to the season being played by the teams that will play in that season, it is a vital part of that preparation for the season to come, and as a result has to be done. This nonsense achieves nothing. If you're going to argue disingenuously atleast put some thought into your argument before you do it.

They kicking to a spot about 20 out from goal straight.

Get King and Darcy in different spots .

And then the players can put their hand up to say they're not interested in playing - but, listening to the media this will surrounding the match, not one player approached said no

Overnight at the Olympics, with less than 3 minutes to go in the Canada vs Switzerland ice hockey match, Swiss forward Kevin Fiala went down with a serious leg injury where he had to be stretchered off. The seriousness of the injury is that he was laying facedown when medical officials got to him, and when they tried to roll him onto his back he told them to stop due to the pain - so he was taken off on a stretcher lying on his stomach

Fiala plays for the LA Kings in the NHL and their fans, plus NHL fans in general, have lost their shit all over social media - including claiming that the Stanley Cup is the most important trophy in ice hockey, with the Olympics a meaningless competition, failing to understand what it means to many to wear their countries colours

Now, we know there's no intentional AFL competition, meaning that SoO is the opportunity for them to play representative football - watching those who've taken to the field tonight, it seems clear that the players are loving the opportunity to wear these colours and play representative football

It is a stupid argument. Aami community games are no more important for the season prep (at best they are glorified training runs their main purpose is to get the clubs out in the community stuff but thats not on the field) than this is yet clubs play them. We accept risk all the time.

If you are against SOO that's fine but the risk argument is contradictory. If you dont do this then you dont do any other pre season games at all. If youre advocating other pre season games and not this the argument is illogical.

As I said yesterday in another thread I didn’t want 4 Geelong players playing cause risk of injury. Now poor Carlton get another serious injury. It just isn’t worth the risk!
We've got 5 playing

Victoria - Dangerfield, Holmes, Smith & Stewart
WA - Humphries

Holmes getting a bit of it but butchering it.
That's been the biggest knock on his game

I was hoping that Buckley would work with him a bit on that over summer - maybe they did but this is the Holmes we'll continue to get
