Jeez, Clayton Oliver was good though. It may turn out the change of club suited him. He would have looked good in Brown and Gold.

AFL.com.au's Essendon correspondent has penned his weekly column on the Bombers:
The below quote being highlighted like it’s some amazing concept is hilarious.

“AFL coach expects players to train hard”. Essendon win again!

Twomey has the Durham EXCLUSIVE on the AFL website today in addition to the Brad Scott interview. Why the league's official website has to facilitate his fanboy antics is beyond me. If you are employed by the league then you shouldn't be writing heavily partisan puff pieces.

I've blocked afl.com on my phone now. Need to find another website.

Welsh on speed dial.

They'll be publishing his Essendon alternate history fan fiction at this rate. It's embarrassing - if they want to publish his fandom then leave it for the Scum website.

To be fair, they are strategic leaks by Welsh. Anyone would publish that mail if they were getting those texts.

Oh I get he's just carrying the water but that just highlights why he shouldn't be working on the governing body's website while doing so. If he wants to be a Druggers PR person then go get on their payroll.

I'm pretty sure he's assigned to write on Essendon like Gabelich is with us.

I don't think either of the articles you're mentioning are anything out of the ordinary or that other journos don't do.

I think there's just a hyper sensitivity towards Twomey and Essendon from many Hawks fans. Prob gets clicks and sells.

Except Josh isn't a Hawthorn nuffie and actively campaigning for us in the press. Bit of a difference.

Gabelich also covers other clubs, not just Hawthorn. Pretty sure he's a Pies fan but I can't recall a single article he has written covering them.

Perhaps Twomey could learn from Gabelich. If Welsh is indeed feeding Twomey stuff, Cal should just direct him to another journalist. That's what a proper, objective journo would do in such circumstances.

Is this the year north finally break out of the bottom 4?

Their list is still awful but Eagles, Tigers, Dees and * have somehow managed to create lists that are just as bad if not worse.
I recon Richmond will win more games than Norf.

Stiff on Richmond. Tigers won 5 games from an expansion club list - they will play finals before Norf do.

They might but that says more about North than Richmond. Tigers have a few senior players holding that list together.

Norf had to get the 2024 draft right and they nailed it. Norf have botched most of their picks for the better part of a decade. I said they wouldn't win a game last year and they showed me and plenty of other doubters very wrong. They had vastly less experience on their list last year and ended up winning 3 more games than in 2024 and had a better percentage. I would not be shocked if they finished higher than Norf this season.

No.

I think you're seriously underestimating the talent the Tigers drafted in 2024. The likes of Lalor, Hotton, Faull, Trainor and Armstrong have already looked very good - and Smilie, their second pick at No.7 overall that year, hasn't even played yet but should in 2026 after the injury issues he had last year.

They added Cumming and Grlj in 2025 and they're both highly rated too.

The Tigers will be playing finals very soon - may even surprise a lot of people by doing so in 2026, given we now have a Top 10.

They're miles ahead of North, who are treading water under a coach who's past his best - and it really hurts me to say that about Clarko.

If the organisation/sport you cover is the one paying your salary, you can’t really sell it as objective journalism (regardless of how good you are or how hard you strive to achieve that).
