Maybe we are hedging our bets due to the 10-team finals system? It’s going to be even easier to make finals, so perhaps we are less concerned about peaking for the first few rounds? We might win em anyway.

Maybe we have just trained our butts off and are now trying to taper to be as fit as possible for R0?

Less need to practice game plan and prime players when they have so much experience. Might be more value in reducing games played for each individual across the season?

We also need to get games into our younger players.
Practice games don't count for much in the scheme of things apart from some match time.
Our experienced players need it less than our young guys.
For me, interest lies, for example, in seeing if Ed Allan can build on his performance in the GWS game - flash in the pan or the start of something?

its not a ten team finals system. It’s now a six team finals system with a few exhibition games thrown in😂

Fly was a development coach before head coach, Pretty sure he knows how to develop kids that are “good” enough.

There’s no benefit to gifting games for development. They need to earn their spots
True
But we need to start transitioning some in to avoid an ugly cliff

Happy Practice Match Day for those that celebrate

VFL so far so good today easy 35 point win.
No injuries.
Looking same in AFL no injuries and get up by say 3 goals.
Nice steady 18 point win today at Mars.
No injury at all.
Go easy this one as season is only next week as well.
Pull players out of the game if needed.
Storms predicated as well and some wet weather on the way for Mars this afternoon.
A mate of mine there is already warm sticky weather.
Humid he says.
Keep up waters and keep cool.

I’m liking the junior line up in what is a glorified dress rehearsal.

I’m not big on the pies top 6 chances this year… and injuries always a factor

so I’m keen to get games into youth to address the inexperience of the pies depth beyond the first 25 or so players

Some thing about north that gets my goat when ever we play them.
1977 irks me to the day.
Something about their fans at pies games.
Just dont like north fans when ever we play them.
Got a irrelevant arrogance about them

Yep. The way some talk AFL games have magical properties and I would have been a star if only I'd been played 50 times in the AFL. I blame Tony Shaw and Malthouse.
