Rhyan Mansell: Wrist, 3-4 weeks

“Rhyan presented to the injury clinic the day after the game, complaining of a sore wrist, so we scanned it, and we saw there was a little scaphoid fracture there,” Serpell said.

“He's going to undergo surgery tomorrow, and then he'll miss the next three to four weeks of playing.”

RICHMOND has started talks around an extension for Rhyan Mansell, with the prospect of Tasmania's impending entry into the competition likely to hang over the discussions.

Mansell, who is from Launceston, is uncontracted beyond this season having emerged as a key part of the Tigers' rebuild in recent years.

Richmond is hoping to retain Mansell on a multi-year deal, having entered into negotiations across recent weeks, with the length of tenure likely to be a central factor in the ongoing talks.

A two-year deal would take Mansell to free agency in 2028 and would also squeeze him out of Tasmania's calculations as the Devils look to piece together their maiden side across the next 18 months.

Tasmania will enter into the competition in 2028 and is set to place a focus on luring local prospects home throughout next season.

Mansell has become a key figure in coach Adem Yze's plans across recent years, having moved into the midfield at stages last season and after securing a top-10 placing in the club's best and fairest count in 2024.

However, he's likely to miss much of the next month after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured wrist earlier this week. – Riley Beveridge

Are'nt Ryan & Mon C an item? That would also play some part in him wanting to stay in Melb (RFC) as well ?

Watch yze replace him with Sonsie
why not ???

mansell won't get any better, soon to be 26, sonz much younger and twice the ability.... mansell has played as an automatic selection last 2 seasons, has a dip but output and hurt factor has been average at best

Rather have a bloke having a dip than one who takes short steps.

Good to know an extension is on the cards as he’s earned it.

dont think hell ever be considered a star but he's that hardnosed consistent contributor every side needs a few of. can see him as part the next premiership side.

Can't mention "hurt factor" while advocating for Sonsie to come in.

Do we really need Mansell to get better? Or do we need the rest of the team to get better?
Were Butler, Castagna & Rioli (pre-half back version of Rioli) providing a much greater output than Mansell is now? Or did they play well in a good side?

settle down sonz just turned 23, shedda was a considered a bust early and when he was given a good run of games after showing a bit of form tho erratic finally came good to be one of our 10 ten players once he hit 24/25/26 i see sonsie doing similar with patience. mansell is a goer but thats all.....nippy but not fast, not all that strong in tacking, marking, or pack breaking contests, efficient kick but no chance from outside 50, committed to team structures but often is overzealous, stupid or can't hold his own against very good offensive half back flankers, wingers and intercepters. just my opinion but 2027 hotton is a massive upgrade on mansell and alger, cumming and sonz minor upgrades as well.

There is not one similarity between Shedda and Sonsie. Sonsie aside from having a descent performance way back in the 2022 Final, has barely shown a single glimpse of what-if. But everyone constantly reminds us that he can "kick on both sides", that's all well and good but if you're a poor/slow decision maker who cares if you can kick on your left?

Shedda had x-factor. Even if he was slow to come on, there was still glimpses, similar to Shai Bolton. We could see the potential even when he was played in the pocket getting 6-8 touches per game. Can't be said about sons.

And, I disagree with just about all your points on Mansell. He's fast. Only Jack Ross (7), Walsh (5) and Smith (5) laid more tackles on Thursday - and they're midfielders constantly in contested situations. He also took 7 marks - Short was the only player on the ground that took more.

Hotton will be great if he gets his body right. Alger we haven't seen enough of, same with Cumming.

Only my opinion + some statistics to back it up - but I hope Sonsie turns it around for ya!
Good luck.

Rhyan Mansell: Foot, TBC

“Following his wrist surgery, Rhyan presented to the club with some foot soreness also. We investigated that, and we also detected some bone stress in his foot,” Serpell said.

“Unfortunately, it's a bit more progressed than where Harry Armstrong's is, and he's actually going to have to undergo surgery later this week and will be out for another three to four months.”

May aswell wrap him in cotton wool and get him ready for 2027.

He won't play again this year.

Better off putting him on the LTIL

Yeah, and give us a selection mid-season. Interesting to see how it goes. Shame he could make it as a player.
