It is slightly disappointing it’s going to be the same as Optus, in saying that it’s still going to be epic and the halo screen will be good too, really keen to see the master plan of the precinct and surrounding areas more than the inside because we already know what Optus looks like inside

"A central position near Gilchrist Avenue" is the location. Bleijie will unveil the precise location today according to ABC. Below is from Courier Mail
Victoria Park stadium’s exact site, as MCG-sized field revealed in new renders
The location in Victoria Park of the new Brisbane Stadium has been determined – and is shown in a new image unveiled today.
The image shows it taking a central position in the park, with one side running along Gilchrist Avenue – freeing up the north east of the park for spectators to walk to the Herston Metro station, the new railway station at the RNA, and walkways through the precinct to Fortitude Valley.
The stadium will be “embedded into the existing topography” and feature a playing surface the same size as the behemoth Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The field will be orientated in an east-west configuration after talks with AFL and cricket and analysis of sun position, wind and the stadium footprint.
Preparatory works will start when the land tenure is transferred to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority in June.

The new details come as Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie marks 12 months since the government released its 2032 Delivery Plan.
Mr Bleijie will use an address to the Queensland Media Club on Wednesday to reveal work would soon start on a number of Games venues.
“Exactly 12 months since the Crisafulli Government unveiled its 2032 Delivery Plan, we’ve achieved significant momentum already,” he said.
“To get the Games back on track, we’ve been working calmly and methodically, but also quickly to lock in details and appointments, and getting boots, tractors and drills on the ground for our 2032 and beyond venues, which will deliver generational and city-shaping infrastructure and economic benefits.
“History shows that the true value of the Games is not measured in the weeks of competition. It’s in the decades of prosperity that follow.
“Cities around the world have used the Games as a catalyst to unlock urban renewal, accelerate infrastructure investment and reshape entire precincts.”
Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King said landmark venues and surrounding infrastructure would be worthy homes and major drawcards for the state’s sporting and cultural events long after the Brisbane 2032 Games.

With the 2 open ends on the top level of the current renderings, I would presume it would give the stadium scope for extended capacity down the line, which is great if the case.

9 News Qld just showed some exclusive new renders of the stadium, to be unveiled tomorrow. Also reported that early works would begin June 1, which will also be announced tomorrow.

Architecturally, it's a bit uninspiring from the inside. Also transparent/translucent roofing is pretty shit in our climate - anyone who's sat underneath a dodgy patio with polycarbonate roofing know how hot it can still get.

Thought the announcement was supposed to be exact location but I don’t see any details beyond ‘central location near Gilchrist avenue’
Start digging and work it out later?

Probably saving it for the actual speech he'll give today to the media club

I think about 100 meters east of where we thought it might go? Bit closer to the train station and more centrally located between the two bus stations.
Yes, a different spot then they indicated when doing a media release not all that long ago at QUT Kelvin Grove.
They indicated it was this (QUT) side of the park.
But we should have realized it is just politicians talking.

As Bjelke of the Petersen kind often said he was just "feeding the chooks" in regard to the media

I have been for a walk through Vic Park a few times over the last year or so, I'm trying to get my bearings though, anyway you could mark where the current driving range is S5... and the proposed Olympic pool location?

It seems to be centred on the fairway next to the driving range, not on the driving range itself. It's where I thought looked like the most sensible spot in terms of topography, until I was swayed by talk of it being slightly further west.

It's smack bang in the middle of the gully that runs through. Which I think is going to give people a fairly flat walk to the train station via Gilchrist and is also not directly on top of the QUT bus station, which would have been problematic.

The star is where I thought it would go after my last visit a few months ago, I reckon it's going to be a little south of where the strange rabbit thing is.

I think the bridge in the render is the existing bridge going over the busway to enter the golf facility carpark.

Brisbane Stadium location locked in as design forges ahead
  • The stadium’s location in Victoria Park – a central position near Gilchrist Avenue that maximises access to public transport and nestles the stadium in a naturally occurring amphitheatre.
  • The field of play size and shape – to be the equivalent of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), supported by AFL, Cricket Australia, concert promotors and Brisbane 2032.
  • Field orientation – east–west configuration after analysis of sun position, winds and legacy operational needs for AFL and cricket.
The proposed siting of the new Stadium will seamlessly connect with existing transport infrastructure and allow it to be embedded into the existing topography. This position will also reduce congestion in the critical northeast zone of the park where spectator entry points converge.
“The concept is simple and deliberate: a Stadium in the Landscape. Rather than placing a 63,000-seat object on top of Victoria Park, the stadium will nestle into the parklands and allow the landform and vegetation to do the work.
"The stadium bowl sits in a valley between two ridges
