Was up and down today but too talented. Just need to find his role. I reckon half back in 2-3 years is where he lands.
We've been saying 'he just needs x or y' for years.

It won't change. He has no strong position. He's not quick enough for half back. He's not strong enough or contested enough for the midfield. He's not quick or disciplined enough for the wing.

He showed glimpses of creative handballs against Essendon. That doesn't make a career. Maybe he'll stay in but we needn't waste any more breath on him or what he could be. It's all known

Not every best 23 has to be a star. I think we are sitting pretty if he is bench depth for our midfield/forward line.
He had eight score involvements, more than LDU and Sheeze (Jy and Souv led with nine,) and two score launches in a fairly quiet game.

He's definitely got weaknesses but if he's playing a role like that and we're winning then he's doing his job.

Team wins
TP a team player
Has hardened up not difficult
Hands are elite
The way he opens the game up is a beautiful thing
Gotta have players with touch
That turnover stat really needs a bit of context
Makes it sound like he is kicking straight to an opponent 30 yards away
Might just add 8 score involvements
That’s has to be good

His versatility is very important

Can play any position non KPP
Don't always agree with you two, but yes.

His disposal let him down a bit yesterday, but **** me it is being overstated. He did some great stuff, he did some poor stuff. A lot of others were the same, IMO Stephens had a worse ratio of bad-good, not that I feel the need to bag him out after a win.

Fantastic late change of handball target leading to CZ goal, when the pressure was on.

Otherwise vanilla yesterday, again. Very expendable. I can’t see why we extended him, exactly the player we should be trying to get a second rounder for.

Pink and Disco might come into similar discussions, but they play with discipline in positions where we have no depth. I can see them being ‘role players’ in a successful team. Unfortunately I see Tommy as another Dumont, Basti or Atley - showed something at some stage, but he aint it.

This guy can go and we lose very little. Get what we can.

He had a poor game yesterday but was still an important part of our team winning the game. He got involved in our offense and had four tackles so if that's his floor then any improvement he makes will make us better.

After watching the replay, he was bordering on good. he seemed to be intent on getting moving and he was important in multiple scores. Not sure where he plays long term but until we can find someone who can be adaptable as he can, he stays.

I recommend watching his highlights on the AFL app. For instance, he gets a clanger for the kick to Zurhaar in the pocket, which was a kick the team made 30 times during the game. He was actually cleaner than in previous games when given time.

Good post but the weirdest Haiku I've ever seen.

I reckon the second point he kicked , he was trying to pass it to Souva.
If fos is out - Powell can go in the middle for more stints
It was a typical two-minded kick. Half-pass, half-shot.

They really ****ing irk me. When any team does them, I need a brief grieving period. In this scenario, Larkey was leading out the back (again). Powell was under no pressure. Just settle and take the ****ing shot

Powell is a B Grade mid at best. We don't have anyone better on the list to replace him, so he has to do for this year. But to expect him to still become an A Grade mid is a touch foolish IMO.
They don’t all need the be ‘A’ graders mate
He can be a serviceable role player

Fascists!!!

In all seriousness, the Carlton board has some of the absolute weirdest mods on all of BigFooty. Especially the one named after a Greek goddess. They trash talk every other fanbase but are the single most ban-happy mods you'll ever encounter if you dare to say a bad word about Carlton.

And they lock-down all their threads to be "Carlton fans only!".

It's a weird dynamic where 'wrong-think' is punished and sycophantic support is the only acceptable topic of discussion.
