Maybe stop using hindsight and applying discussions about players in the prime of their careers to 2nd year players who have shown some great and exciting promise

Yes in their 2nd year of football. Its not hindsight in any way. Its the reality. The younger players just are not as good as we previously had.

My ranking is based on position and hurt factor.

Langford doesn't have Lalor covered in a single statistical category this season except handballs. And hes playing in a far better team

Lalor has him in quite a few this season

Lalor looks like he could be anything. He's a powerful unit for a second year player. Very strong over the ball. Very explosive. And looks to be a good kick too.

Reid has transformed Fremantle's ball movement forward of centre. It gets spoken about a fair bit, but his vision and footy IQ are sublime. His hands are super clean and super fast too.

I've not yet seen enough of the other two to make an assessment yet, but it seems pretty consensual that most or all supporters of their respective teams are bullish on them, which typically works out pretty well.

Levi Ashcroft being criminally underrated in this thread. Playing out of his natural position and still putting together a really solid start to his career.

Would be seen as a much better prospect if he was in a poor side playing true midfield minutes.

I vividly remember driving along Burwood road listening to sen the run home. Dermie was on and a hawthorn supporter called up saying hodge was no good and the hawks would have been better off taking David hale. Dermie said maybe maybe not let’s wait and see. As I was going to uni this must have been year 3 or 4 of his career

Levi will explode when he becomes a full time mid. Untapped potential is enormous at present.

Using the 2001 draft as a benchmark for any comparison is reductive beyond all reason. It's called the Super Draft for a reason.

It's a bit like saying 'I've been staring at your wife for the last couple of hours, and whilst she's pretty attractive, I've knocked a few out over the years looking at pictures of Cindy Crawford, Elizabeth Hurley and Scarlett Johansson and well your wife doesn't quite hit the same...'

I am surprised you have shanahan that low in the long term though. He seems to have tthat rare gift you literally can't teach, he reads the flight of the ball quicker than all players around him so gets to the right position more often. Reminds me of a young Pavlich. He could be pretty special

I think that’s part of what seems so special about this group

They are all very different players but all guns in their own right, don’t think any of the the respective fan base would swap the one out for any of the others and that’s not a negative towards any of them

Hes got a bit of McGovern about him in that respect too. Very quick to identify where the ball is going to drop.

Reid for mine. Lalor I think can eclipse everyone if his body allows him too, Langford I rate very highly aswell. Fair bit of talent picked outside 20 also with Trainor, Shanahan, Whitlock x 2, O'farrell, Bice, and not to mention premiership players in Sam Marshall and Ty Gallop. Ridiculous draft so far.
