Proud of the boys. In terrible conditions, their pressure was brilliant - over 200 most of the game.

We lost to last years premiers and one of this years contenders.

In those conditions mistakes were made by both sides and umpires. It was a rough night for footy.

The worst for the night were a lot of posters here slagging of at our team and coaches. Pi55 off keyboard warriors. Imbeciles.

It’s easy to pick off players in a team that don’t play well. Geniuses. Most had a crack tonight.

I thought we have been a good board over the years but lately the negativity toward our team that has given us amazing success is disgusting

Most of you wouldn’t have ever played in conditions like that.

Game plan from Fly was exactly what the night needed.

We lost by a goal. We could have won by a goal. It was that kind of a game.

Now stop embarrassing yourselves and support the mighty pies. You blokes would never have survived in the John Cahill era.

When Collingwood dominate play for long periods of time. They do not put in on the score board, this keeps teams in games. We saw Freo kick a burst of 3 goals in 3 mins and then 2 goals in 2 mins and for the rest of the game 80% they were beaten around the ground. Like most teams that play us, they kick accurately because most of their shots are directly infront.
Finally, McStay is a liability, Not only is he a horriffic set shot, it is as if he is never expecting the ball to come to him and alway gets himself in the least advantageous position.
I will forgive Shooter for that miss because he plays his guts out for us.
The BS down the field that got paid for us when Nick was bumped after he kicked the ball, Guess who had the set shot. Our worst possible set shot player, Ned Long.
We lost this game because we played dumb football.

Can’t believe people are potting IQ. He’s been incredibly consistent the last two years and is clutch like Maynard in preventing scoring opportunities for the opposition that by rights looked certain. How he is the one copping criticism mystifies me.

He's a good footballer, and had a decent year. My question was whether he is living up to pick 13 in a National Draft.

However the 2018 National Draft was notoriously shallow.

Having said that pick 12 was Zak Butters, and pick 15 was Jordan Clark.

Is it a matter that we just don't have the talent to replace these players, or are we just not giving them a chance. I don't watch VFL closely so I don't really know.

We have Jiath and Cochrane playing in the twos. No doubt they are not as good as Howe at his prime. But Howe was not even close to the player he was when he was their age too. I don't think Howe was that bad tonight. I just don't think you can take is as many older players as we are right not when our bottom 15 or so players are stinking it up.

Tried hard but oh so ordinary is what we are. Give up any hope of attracting top line talent to our club while playing the slowest most boring brand of footy in the comp. It's bad enough playing that way and getting over the line. Grinding away for four quarters and losing a very winnable game just adds salt to the wound.

We are at the stage now that you must be either high, drunk or on some kind of painkiller before watching a Collingwood game because it is a slow insidious killer.

We are most certainly not in premiership contention, that fact is absolutely clear.

Now it is all about building the future list that will take us back to the promise land.

I hope all our young players currently in the vfl are able to stake a permanent spot in the side by the end of the season.

No, our defensive system is good because it is highly trained and integrated across the mids as well (when they put in the effort and know what they are doing).

The addition of Anderson has been enlightening. He added exactly the kind of ingredient we needed into the midfield. Fremantle has one of the best midfields in the AFL, so this was not insignificant.

The midfield and the defence understand how to integrate and connect.

The issue obviously is with the midfield and the forward line.

In my view, this is clearly a personnel issue. We don't have Bobby, and it looks to me more and more like Checkers and Jamie had a synchronisation that no one knew about until it went missing.

So, if it is a personnel issue, this means we need to bring in West and Buller asap. They are the future. They need to play, in the knowledge that we have a fantastic defensive system to scaffold them in staking their claim to an AFL career with the Pies.

I agree midfield and forward line the issue.

Just pondering whether we have been too defensive for a few years, which means we now try too absorb too many punches and not throw any.

We have been slaughtered at centre clearances the last 2 weeks with scores against, at important times ( start of qtrs ) we have to nullify that, Steene can jump over most opposition rucks, let’s utilise that

The one thing you can almost guarantee is that West does not miss those goals that McStay now seems to miss regularly. Has to come in for Carlton and Essendon.

I was disappointed in the last quarter we couldn't work Jackson over by having both ruckman on the ground. Imo Steene should have been deep all quarter to provide a contest. It was no coincidence that one of the mark McStay took was when Cameron was up forward and engaging Jackson.

I wish we had two Perrymans - one for defence and one for the midfield. Has to be our most underrated player.

I think Harrison /Saxena need to get a look in soon. We need small forwards that can kick goals. Saxena seems to have a very good goal sense.

The wheels are turning but wow it's slow. Come on Fly.

I Know the result is shit but to get a game against Freo on your terms is a good effort.

Someone needs to tell Fly that we are not winning the GF this season so it’s time to play the kids. West, Ryan, Swadling, TJ, Buller, Saxena. Let’s see them play not one game here and there.
Fly inherited a premiership list and his coaching was perfect for that list. That’s over let’s see if he can develop a young team without giving away our high draft picks for second hand average players.

Anyone who writes a comment suggesting any upcoming game is going to be a guaranteed four points for our boys is shockingly delusional. Both teams are likely to push us right to the bell. We don't have enough talent to put away lesser teams, so it usually comes down to the last term and getting a 15 point break and then playing for the final bell. Ugly stuff but we need to get used to it.

McStay is as mentally weak a player as I have seen. No doubt most supporters knew he would miss his set shot. And he did. Others stuff up at crucial moments but none with such predictable regularity as our Dan.
