Yes, let's not get ahead of ourselves...We've won two games against bottom three sides. Tonight was an excellent result but let's crow after the Hawthorn game if we win.
Essendon have been in great form over the past 2 weeks and Carlton have pushed a few of the top sides this year.

No idea why people have to try and diminish what was a great win.

fantastic performance, the scoreboard flattered Essendon at half time. We left a few goals out there in the first quarter, and then kicked 1-6 in the second.

Cant really add any more to say about Pendles that hasn't already been said. We are blessed to have had him for so long, and to perform at that level for over 400 games is just incredible.

Nick had an almost game, should have kicked 3 goals, and a couple of his turnovers resulted in goals to them, still had a bloody good game though.

Josh & Houston were terrific, some of Dan's kicking was sublime, as was Qs.

Really happy for Roan & Angry to get a couple of goals each, and always good to see Beau hit the scoreboard.

JDG, Sidey & Crispy all had great games, it was just a pleasure to watch.

Despite kicking 20 goals, the forward line is still an issue, particularly the talls. McStay probably saved his spot in the 2nd half, but I think Membrey might sit out the Hawthorn game.

Loving the Cameron/Steene partnership, its only going to get better.

Always great to win on ANZAC day.

GO PIES

We have kicked 27 goals in the last 5 quarters. It seemed that that last quarter against Carlton was the enema we needed to unblock us.😀Hopefully it will be a real turning point in our season.

Going to be way harder vs Hawks on Thursday

I think Membrey was playing a different role today. He was deliberately going downfield to create more space in the forward line, with the idea of participating in both team defence and as a possible target in transitioning the ball forward.

It didn't look to me like a traditional forward role. Cameron and Steene were also often down in the forward line to provide the extra tall target.

Such a tactic would not I think work against Dawkthorn. I think Cameron and Steene will be needed more around the ground as part of the team defence system across the ground, so we'll need a mobile forward who can run out of F50 as required but also present as a potential forward target.

So yeah, I would be bringing in West for Membrey next week.

So our best performances this year have been the last quarter burst against Carlton and the second half onslaught against essendon.

The question is, do we only have the capability for a 2 quarter max effort all guns blazing effort or do we have the ability to stretch it to 3 quarters?

Or is our best way to win games against the top sides, by doing the 'rope-a-dope' for 2 quarters and then turning it on for other 2?

We were pretty great all game, bar dropped sitters and missed shots. But let's be real, they were absolutely rubbish.

Pendles is an absolute genius, defence extremely solid. Jordy pulled his finger out despite looking physically over the hill. Josh and Nick need to clean themselves up a bit, stats really don't tell the full story.

But the best for me was the kids.

Angus came out firing (again) in the third after having a quiet first half (maybe was held back?). We've definitely found a player, doesn't need to be a star to fulfil a big need.

Steele is very skillful and reliable, and will get more of the footy as his teammates learn that. Often in the right spots even when he doesn't get used.

Steene's taps are a thing of beauty. Really should try start him in the middle imo.

Hayes is building nicely in an inherently very tough position.

Forward line still the biggest issue. Buller or West will definitely come in next week to replace Membrey. Elliot is looking shaky. McStay still irreplaceable structurally for now but on borrowed time.

Season back on track if we can beat Hawthorn
We have to play at a level we haven't since the early game against Hawthorn last year.

Which funnily enough was our best performance last year. We kinda slowed down after that performance against Hawthorn.

We need everything to go our way. Have to make them take tough shots and make them wasteful forward of the ball.

So we can't kick straight today and now apparently we can't do simple maths .

Seriously....

55? That math ain’t mathing

You conveniently forget, except for a few late errors, we should have beaten flag contender Freo who are currently third on the ladder.

Any win is a good win in this competition.

Exactly. We are under no illusion about the task at hand against Hawthorn.
Let’s enjoy Anzac Day tonight & think about the Hawks later.

Don't think anyone here is crowing about us being premiership favourites based on today's victory and last week's.

Was just glad we saw something different to what we have been seeing for the last 7-8 weeks.

Hopefully this goal kicking surge creates a hunger in the side to score more and become better at connecting with our forwards more efficiently.

Hopefully this is a step in the right direction in us being more efficient and effective scoring going forward.

De Goey not at his best but had a very positive impact. Especially the 3 goals. Without Bobby or Mihocek, feel we need him more as a forward than a mid.

Roan continues to develop this year. 18 touches and 2 goals is a nice return. That set shot from 50 was a ripper. Defensive side of his game may be a weakness.

Like the potential of Hayes, but feel like HH has to be close to replacing him. Doesn't have the brilliance but does have good pace and far better tackling.

Steene as a ruck is a real gem. It's probably enough for him to be a permanent fixture on its own. If his spot comes into question it's going to be due to around the ground impact..
